    Hello, hello

    Hi there, just joined the forum as I'm looking to get back into Field Target shooting after quite a few years break. My son is 10 and now old and sensible enough to join me, so I've decided to dust off my camos and look into clubs locally .

    I used to be a member of Iceni Marksmen, but now live in Hampshire, so have been to investigate the Basingstoke Air Rifle and Pistol Club. They seem to be a friendly bunch, and have really good facilities and offer a lot for the membership fees, so we are planning on joining just as soon as I can sort out a gun.

    I'm seriously considering an Air Arms S400 Carbine, as it seems to be a very well regarded gun, and the shorter version is quite well suited to my son using it as well (he's not the biggest 10 year old you'll ever meet... ). Does anyone have any experience or advice that they could offer about this choice, or possible alternatives suitable for us to share?

    Also, I'd really appreciate any advice on whether to buy new or consider secondhand. Obviously, the latter is cheaper, but does the savings make sense against the lack of any warranty?

    you will not go wrong if you get a aas400/410 they're fantastic guns, very accurate and well made
