    Newbie (Oldbie?)

    Hi
Just joined the forum. Also now a member of the ********* forum and the Weihrach Owners Forum.

Been away from airgunning since the recession of the late 80's when all the guns (and the house!) had to go.
Didn't really think much about it over the intervening 25 years or so, until I came across a Weihrauch HW77K at a boot sale just before Christmas.
This was the gun I always wanted. 77k with thumbhole stock, brass trigger & guard, barrel weight and a big old scope (had a 77 in the 80's with a scope, but could never afford the thumbhole). Came in a hard case with sling & swivels, gun cleaning kit, grease etc. Price negotiated, and all of my Christmas money gone I came home a happy man.
I've since re-sprung and serviced it, and it's everything I thought it would be - heavy, powerful & accurate. Housebeast is not too happy, but then again they seldom are!

The problem is, this has awakened the airgun beast inside me, and it's now been joined by a Smith & Wesson 586 .177 6" CO2 revolver, a HW45 .22 (which now sports wooden anotomical grip), and a Rohm Twinmaster Trainer .177 target pistol.

S&W is a great and surprisingly accurate gun. Good for accurate plinking but would also not be embarassed at a 10m shoot. After just 100 pellets it's now up for sale to fund an old springer (FWB, Original etc) .177 target rifle to join the 'collection'.

The HW45 is probably the best 'affordable' springer air pistol in the world (that should get some opinions going!)
Like the HW77K it's extremely well made, powerful, accurate, but heavy!

The Rohm (after shooting the HW45) is so easy it's just fantastic. Accuracy (even with my shaky old hand) is less than 2" groups at 10m, and I'm sure the gun itself is better than that. Mine has the wooden anotomical grip. A definite keeper!
If you are looking to shoot targets, my advice would be buy a secondhand one of these (as I did) and don't waste your money on 'lesser' pistols. There was only about £20 difference between this (secondhand) and the new S&W, but the quality and accuracy are something to be believed, and you know (because of the type of gun it is) it's probably had a really well looked-after life!

Strangely my job does involve pistons, seals & springs, but there the similarity ends!
