Since I have been lurking on here for the past 6 months or so (just registered in November) I thought I had better introduce myself.
I live near to Glasgow and have been shooting on and off for the past 18 years or thereabouts, my first experience of shooting was a Webley Tempest when I was about 14 (it was my old mans) in our back garden, great memories of evenings spent plinking cans! Shortly after that I joined the ATC which back then (I dont know if they still do it) we used to shoot .22 rimfire rifles at an indoor range every Sunday which was about 40yards if i remember correctly, I was a pretty good shot and got picked to go shooting at a local outdoor range we have nearby which I think the police still use nowadays and I got the chance to shoot an SA80 (the older model) and a GPMG amongst other things and did a few competitions with the rifles after that.
I have had over the years : A Webley Hurricane, a gat gun(absolute mince!), a Gamo pistol (looked like the compact) and various other rifles of which type i cant remember. The last time I went shooting was about 8 years ago, I sold my rifle to fund a new car probably and never got another.
Im now married (nearly 3 yrs) and we have been going to Las Vegas on holiday each year for the past 6 years but for the last 3 yrs I have been going to the range while I have been there and spent a fortune on hiring everything from Glock's to AR 15's, Steyer Aug's and various shotguns so thats why I decided to get back into shooting here at home as I enjoy it. (her indoors doesnt understand it)
Im just trying to arrange permission at some farms around where i stay so i have somewhere to go once I buy a rifle but for the moment I have bought a nice little plinker for the back garden, a Walther CP99 Co2 pistol (As New - Walther CP99 CO2 Pistol - £90) which is the first time I had used a Co2 pistol and I must say this is a well made and sturdy little bugger which im thinking about getting tuned by Phil Baker, Its putting out 1.9 ft/lb (I know an asthmatics cough!) but with some work it might be closer to 3 ft/lb. Is this worth tuning? (am i mad!?)
Anyhow I have rambled on a bit and i'm getting close to the post limitso i better wrap this up!
Everyone i have dealt with on this forum has been very helpful for this i appreciate very much and hope to find a shooting buddy or club/range up my neck of the woods as I know it can get lonely and very boring lying in wait in muddy fields.
Cheers,
Irvine
