read something on a forum about maggies loving frozen oven chips. Not tried it yet but worth a go. Crafty Black and White buggers!

Old 35mm film tub with some 4mm nuts in it. Shake it an dit sounds just like the chack, chack, chack of a magpie.

Bait works aswell but you have t be totally concealed. It is only the first one that is difficult.Once you have amagpie, keep it in the freezer - then when you take it to a new place/area it is a stranger - so the locals mob it. They seem to forget their natiral cautiousness and will come straight in to see off the stranger....you place it exactly at your zero range where you can get a good shot - be ready and don't mess about. When they come - shoot them.

Then you have more strangers to take back where you got the first one....self perpetuating.

Who wears the trousers in that household then.

Our freezer has, let me see now:
    A magpie, with feathers on,
    a crow, with feathers on
    lugworms, black, in newspaper wraps
squid, frozen about 3 times some of it now - in boxes though.
mackerel, heads on - for tope or conger bait.
mussels, frozen in small blocks using the ice cube maker to freeze them, then you just wrap them in cling film and take out some to use each time.
sandeels, in various stages of decomposition.
    some muntjac venison
    some rabbits
.....plenty of other general meat or fish stuff.

    It does NOT have:
    ice cream
    peas
    beans
    chips
    etc.

    You need another freezer.
