But here's the funny bit! A mate of mine does some part time work on a farm and over the winter period he was asked if he knew anyone with ferrets to do a big warren,so yours truly got the job.Anyway we were doing about 15 to 20 rabbits a day out of this big long bank that took us about eight days to complete, will see if i can find photo's in a mo' the day it snowed and it was freezing cold to the extent i could not feel my hands.Any how end of february came and i stopped ferreting for obvious reasons with young an all, so went back to one of my smaller shoots to see if the bunny population was still a problem, not having a big shoot soon started to become a problem and started asking around for more. Now you know that mate i mentioned? well i spoke to him and a few others in the pub and said that i had been driving home up this particular road every day this week and seen rabbit's and wood pigeon like you would'nt believe?
Paul turn's to me and say's "Yeah and you know who owns that don't you?" i said "no" and he say's my boss who you done that favour for during the winter! Well i can tell you now i was out of that pub like a rat up a drain pipe! I went to see this Farmer and to be quite honest i did'nt expect to get anywhere with it as he has only really seen me when i was up there ferreting and had not spoken, he just let us get on with it.
I knocked on the door and for some reason felt as nervous as hell? any way he opened the door and i introduced myself and explained that he probably remembered me from the winter ferreting, and he stopped me in mid sentence and says" Of course i do and a great job you done as well from what i heard!" well that was it the nervousness totally went when he said what can i do for you? I mentioned all these rabbits i had seen and i could not believe this guy's reaction! He shot out of the door like i had just told him he had won the lottery! He said to me just go and get them and when your done there go over the other side of the wood he said there's three times what you have seen there.
Well guess who's a happy bunny? and it ain't the one sitting in the field!.
This land just runs for miles and miles not something i will be walking in a day if you get my drift so up there at the weekend hide building and homework i think.
Nice one ....that should-keep ya off the games for a few hours, anyway

    farmers reaction!

Hey, well done mate, that was a hell of a lot of doorknocking! but as these other posters state, perseverance pays off-eventually! I know a few people have congratulated you, but i had to say something! i am so pleased for you, it is a great story & a real tonic to make the people with no permissions to just keep on at it, there is hope for us all.
Enjoy yourself, and give the Rabitts a hard time.

    A good question mate.
Basicaly up here in scotland,if you fall over and hurt yourself on a farm, you can claim damages off the farmer/landowner!!.
All down to "the freedom to roam act"!!!.(grrrr!).
Fall over a fence, break a leg and you have 10k in your bank account!!!!
