    2012

2012, my new perm, and my year so far.

Well I turned 44 on the 8th of this month, and I’m still drinking like a fish, and smoking like a chimney. Could be worse I suppose, could have kids on ASBO’S, instead I’ve got a dog and 8 Chickens. Least they don’t walk the streets getting pished on cheap Cider, causing grief.

I’m digressing from the plot somewhat, apologies for that.

Anyway, today was my forth visitation to a permission I secured sometime last year, and it proved to be my best day so far.

I’m not adverse to country ways by any means, but I’ve recently re-discovered that your average towny fed and reared Bunnies, Pigeons etc are in a completely different league to their rural cousins.

Talk about being out of touch.

Superman himself would have been well chuffed if he possessed the hearing capabilities of your average woody. The experienced hunter will know exactly where I’m coming from!

My Rowan mag came into it’s own today, as I played the waiting game, albeit after I spent a few hours wandering around, scaring everything off within a mile radius.

To be honest, I couldn’t have been doing that bad, as I came face to face with a full grown Deer in the low lying fog, and if that wasn’t enough, a bloody great big Stag then stepped through the hedge and scared the crap out of me!

Despite wandering, which I was quite happy to do being as I came across a variety of bird species including Buzzards, Harriers, Tree Creepers, Lesser Spotted/Great Spotted/Green Peckers, Bull Finches, and amazingly a pair of Gold Crests, I found a couple of likely spots in which to hide.

This proved to be invaluable, and I ended up bagging a couple of plump Woodies, 2 Wabbits, and half a dozen Crows, much to the delight of the farmer, as he has in the regions of 30,000 Chooks, and the Crows have a tendency to feed on their eggs!

I know this might sound like an old cliché, and I’ve no doubt you’ve heard it before, but I would like to thank this site and some of you boys personally, for reintroducing me to such a marvelous past time, and providing me with the appropriate kit to do so!!!

Just gutted I can’t attend the bash TBH

One of the woodies must have been from 40 yards. Clean. Been practicing like a Darts player!!
