It can be done with air rifles, but you've got to be quick to aqquire and take a accurate shot, when I deek crows with a rifle I use a rifle that doesn't matter where they are hit, good luck though.
As the Hun man has said, you want your hide preferably with the wind in your back, allowing to pigeon to land into the wind, they won't hang around though once they realise its a 'twap', it'll be challenging, enjoyable, but I'd doubt the effectiveness of this technique as a pest control one...I find 32g of 6.5's work best.
