    ebay time wasters

i stuck my saab alloys on ebay last week as i need shot of them
the starting bid was £120 as i won't take less
on the 18th i notice i had a bid,so i think great at least i get my minimum for them and get some much needed space in the shed
2 days later on the 20th i get an email saying that the bid has been retracted, reason for retraction "entered wrong amount"
they only placed one bid which was the start bid,how could they have entered the wrong amount
this sort of thing really p***s me off
ebay have rules for everything else there should be a rule that you have a maximum time in which to retract your bid,say 12 hours
when they changed their mind all they had to do was contact me asking me to cancel the bid and a reason for doing so,its common courtesy
i am furious that ebay allow this to go on
    rant over

it happens a lot since ebay stopped the sellers from being able to give buyers bad feedback.

Sellers cant give bad feedback but buyers can which is a ball of s***.

I had it three times in a row where someone bid on an item then decided after it was finished they didn't want it now.

Incorrect under distance selling rules no contract without 14 day cooling off period!

I used ebay from its inception to a couple of years ago and had a feedback rating of around 1000 (all positive)

As it now appeares to be populated mainly be dealers / crooks / mentalists and ebay seem to have no interest in anything than maximising their income then I no longer use it at all.

I now buy and sell using specialists forums like this that relate to my various interests. Much better - no fees, less chance of being ripped off and you get to talk to / meet some nice people.

    Cheers

The distance selling cooling off period, only applies to "buy it now" not auctions.
