    Another first post scammer

    Looks like this scammers managed to sting two people in one go

    Crossman Ratcatcher .22 For Sale

    Come on guys something needs to be done now.

    I've been on about this for ages, and get told of every time I mention first post scammers. Fact is, it's a problem.

    Stop people being able to sell things on their first post?

    Maybe a 100 posts before you can sell. Yes it can be still done, but scammers are opportunists and will just move on when they see the 100 post count thing.

    They won't because genuine shooters sign up to use the forum for other things, not just selling.

    Either way, wouldn't you rather lose a couple of genuine sellers (as you said, you make no profit from them anyway) than see people get ripped off?

    You could force people to list their land line number as part of the advert. That can go a long way in tracking someone down and give buyers that extra piece of mind.

    I think Face to Face is only way though when it comes to guns.

    That's not a bad start. Unless of course they googled a proxy list or something which would be feeding you some poor souls address, that has no idea about anything.

    I just hope they didn't pay by paypal. If so, that moneys long gone

    Only problem is you would have to confirm it's theirs, they could just put a phonebox number lol. Scammers will go to great lengths.

    Face to face is always better. But saying that I normally ask the seller for a number and can get a judgment of them over the phone.
