i normally like casualty, but i thought that storyline was a bit stupid. i think the best part was when the second shooter kept pointing the gun under his face, but if he pulled the trigger it might clip the end of his chin, but would miss his head. he could at least of pointed it under his chin properly.

Health and safety probably wouldn't let him do that. Even with an unloaded rifle, the danger money they would have had to pay him....
I also noticed the way he put it under his chin. Even if the pellet had gone right through his chin, it would have only clipped his nose. Total crap!
BTW, I wrote to the BBC earlier today. I can expect a response within 10 working days apparently. Doubt I will get one though.

Should anyone be interested in viewing this, the links here http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode..._Entry_Wounds/

    Don’t bother,

The plot, and no I have no issues with the main message.

Gay men get angry at life and mainly there fathers so get a well known brand of air rifle and shoot BB's first at random then a focused attack.

For all the mother's, fathers, siblings and others that lost people in the recent attacks up north and for all in the past, I’m am sorry that a part of my TV licence has paid for this poor, inaccurate and disrespectful episode.

A petition for an apology to the above mentioned and to the sport, trade and possible damages to the manufacturer of the Air rifle I feel is needed.

Measured complaint sent in. Will do no good, tho, the BBC are dyed in the wool anti-shooting sports, guns are bad, etc etc.

I agree but what do the Beeb put on out TVs ???? if there so against shooting, guns etc then why do they put crap on its channels you cant go a full day without a program showing guns, murder etc, what would they do if we didnt have to pay for the TV licence ??? to the beeb guns in whatever form means money or rather ratings !!!!!!
always did think they were full of crap.
Also in light of what happend in Cumbria i think it was insencetive and disgraceful to the memories and feelings of the people who sufferd and lost there lives. They should hang there heads in shame.

    I got a response today!!!

    Dear Audience Member

    Reference CAS-277650

Thank you for your e-mail about ‘Casualty’ broadcast on 4th September 2010 on BBC One.

We apologise for the delay in replying to your e-mail. We realise that our correspondents appreciate a quick response and we’re sorry that you had to wait on this occasion.

I understand that you’re unhappy with the representation of the dangers of air rifles on ‘Casualty’ because you felt it was over-exaggerated. We appreciate that you’re also unhappy that ‘Casualty’ portrayed air rifle users in an unfair light because you felt the programme insinuated that all air rifle owners are potential killers.

It’s was never our intention to cause any offence or upset, we’re sorry if you felt that this was the case.

Drama productions like ‘Casualty’ aren't always best served by meticulous attention to detail and accuracy and a certain amount of dramatic licence can be involved in trying to capture the essence of an issue and then conveying this to an audience. We appreciate that even the most minor deviation from accuracy can be irritating to some viewers but there are constraints which mean that we cannot or do not always want to keep as closely to the level of accuracy that some viewers would like us to.

The BBC does, of course, strive to maintain the highest possible standards of factual accuracy across our Dramatic and Entertainment output. We’re conscious of the fact that our audience expect us to apply this strictly when it comes to programmes of this type.

I'd like to assure you that I've registered your comments and idea on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to ‘Casualty’ production team, the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.

Please again accept our apologies for the unfortunate delay and thanks for taking the time to contact us.

    Kind Regards

    Leigh Mallon

So basically, they have 'dramatic licence' to make out that air rifles are almost as powerfull as bazzooka's if they wish. Bunch of ponces wouldn't know the difference between an air rifle and a shot-gun if they were smacked in the face with one.

The bit in red also indicates that they had the intentions of making out that air rifles are deadly weapons that nobody should be in posession of. Talk about using the media to turn public opinion!

Funny bit is, I don't have a TV or a TV Licence. I only watched it online after seeing this thread. SO they get no pennies out of my pocket!
