Have you tried heating the washer?

I have bought 2 rifles from the dark side over the last 6 months.
The first was my HW77 that I am absolutely over the moon with. But when I spoke to him on the phone, I specifically asked if she was legal power. He said she was, so I did the deal. I didn't have a chrono then, so used her, tuned her with a V-mach spring, and polished her to make her look pretty.
When I bought the chrono, I put the original spring back in to test her. She was 16ft/lb! I was not ammused. I then put the V-mach spring I bought when I tuned her back in, so she is back to being legal again.
Last week, I saw a battered HW77k for sale. I want one for our eldest, so thought I could do the same to that as what I have done to mine. Again, I asked if it was legal power, and was laughed at and told, "Course it is!" So I made the deal.
It arrived today, looking very sorry for itself. I had the obligatory look over, and then tested the power. 13.68 on my chrono, with RWS super H-Points!
I stripped it, and took the spring out. It is a standard Weihrauch spring, in very good nick if you ignore the stupid way they cut them now. Not bent or damaged in any way. But there are 2 washers in the bottom of the compression tube. The first one came out with a bit of fidling, but the second won't budge. (Anybody any suggestions?) It is still in bits, and will be until I can get a V-mach spring for it.
My pont is, why the hell do people make there rifle illegal, knowing full well that they risk 5 years in prison??? Then sell it on, saying it is legal, knowing damn well that it isn't??? They put the buyer at risk as well. If I wasn't the kind of person that strips theings down and tests them, I could have been waliking around with an illegal rifle and been oblivious to it until I was stopped buy a bobby!
I don't even uderstand why they would want it over the 12ft limit. Too much power, at any sensible air rifle shooting distance, can cause over-penetration, so they are likely to have more runners than clean kills. I just don't understand it.
Last thing I buy off there any way. Don't trust their members any more. What's the point of a bargain if it comes with a possible prison sentence? Not quite a bargain at that cost.

Pelllet on pellet at unlimited range regardless of conditions (yeah right)
surpose on the up side , at least you know they work could of been the total opposite and been a bag of crap .
Will have a go at that later. Thanks.
I think (HOPE!) it will be a nice rifle when I have finished. Did get it quite cheap, and there is zero rust or pitting. There is damage done around the pins that hold the trigger in, and varioust chips on the underside of the action. But nothing serious. The stock is a plie of shlte though. Sanded beyond belief, to the point that it has lost its original shape. Then it has been sprayed black. There are various chips underneath where the the underlever has clipped it when cocking. To be honest, I think it needs a new stock quite badly.
I brought a s410 a while back. Again didnt have a chrono but when i did test it was 16ft lbs!
Luckily was pre at so easy fix.
Sadly its one of those things.
As for "that place" well wtf u doing over there in first place!?

I was on the lookout for a cheap HW77 for our eldest. I don't go there for any other reason, but won't bother going there again anyway.
I am a member on a few sites, but this is the only one I am actually active on.
If I bought a rifle that they said was under 12ft/lbs and turned out to be over, I would name and shame them.
The first one was Old Bull on there @ just over 16ft/lb's. The second was Hun7er which was 13.68.
Both blokes were easy to deal with, and I have no complaints regarding the actual sale. I still think the first rifle was a bargain. But both lied when asked if they were legal powered. The second one also lied regarding the condition of the stock. Just makes me wonder how many people have there rifles set over the limit. In future, I will only buy from here, and ask to see pictures of the chrono readings first.
Or how many people were lied to by their RFD? I can see that happening with the PCP.
However the 13.68 springer is a little more suspect... Who would want 1.68 over the limit anyway? What benefit does that give? A yard of flatter trajectory? Me thinks he just didn't realise.

I used RWS Super H-Point at 13.9gr. If he used AA Field at 16gr, it would put the rifle over 15.5ft/lb. And even heavier pellet would have put it into the 18's.
