A good number of members have access to a chrono but most air gunners do not, many airguns unless tested at clubs are never tested and I suspect a large number are significantly over or under powered as a result.

It is the owners responsibility to get their weapons checked and to keep them legal, PCP often gain power over time and with AT this makes remedying the situation more difficult, some quality springers also appear to gain power so the answer maybe to buy a B2!

Alternatively its education and your own diligence that will keep you legal and out of jail or prevent you from becoming out of pocket and losing you air gun!

Apart from insisting that guns are checked by the vendor prior to the sale this problem cannot be easily solved so as always it is buyer beware!

I was just wondering regards overpower has many if any people actually been caught with one and what was the out come? I dont mean caught as in knowingly flouting the law regards the power, but i suspect there must be an awful lot of air rifles in peoples possesion that don't belong to the sensible side of the sport, and have no idea what a chrono is.

Woot! I always thought it was the other way round! Cheers for clearing that up

Don't know mate. But I definately wouldn't like to find out first hand. All my rifles are legal now, and that is the way they will stay whilst I own them.
I don't even see the point of having one over the limit. The power gain just doesn't seem worth it. OK, if you could get them into the 20ft/lb range and over without destroying the rifle, it would open up range possibilities. But anything less just seems pointless to me. And if you wanted a rifle that can shoot further, why not just go for an FAC?
The risk is just too high, for virtually no gain.

Have just been banned from The Dark Side for saying that not everyone who wears a turban or subscribes to a different religion is intent on destroying the world in a tumult of fire and death.

Well, I think I have - they haven't told me that I'm banned (or what for) yet. I just can't access any of the members' areas, make new posts or edit existing posts.

    Seems a bit odd, really.
