has the law changed re- safe braking distances?

im actually at my wits end to be honest!

kids away this weekend, all of em , so i thought i know i'll take the wife out for the day to rye in kent (nice little fishing town near me).

now i'll cut to the chase ok!

when did high speed undertaking on motorways become lawful???? huh???!!!!

and my most fuming one, ok, theres a car in front of you, your doing 70, so is the car in front, i keep a really nice long distance, and then hey ho, along comes the tw@t on the inside, and then pulls out and up in front of you! so now your the one tailgating!!!!!!!!!!

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! !!!!!!!!

i flash them!, i give them the '5 blends of finest coffee beans shake', flip the bird etc.

and low and behold, and trust me on this one, they will, WILL slow down and then when you eventually pull alongside and look at them they just look staright ahead as if wearing some kinda 'driving blinkers' as if nothing has happened!

WHY!? why do they do this and then slow down?

That's normal nowadays, I had someone overtake me last week then went straight across all three lanes on to the exit ramp, realised it was the wrong junction so came back on motorways straight to fast lane. People who do that should be banned for life.

Did they indicate before pulling out or came upon a slow moving vehicle and made use of the decent gap you provided. Could it be they had no opportunity to filter in behind you but spotted a gap and went for it.
You really have to take account of others on the road and be alert, if necessary adjust your own speed to compensate. If you then flash them and they don't respond they likely think you are a road rage nutter.

    Try being a truck driver!

I get people driving behind me while I'm trying to reverse into places, because they can't wait a few seconds; banging ther brakes on at speed - no biggy for cars, but virtually an emergency stop for a 26 ton truck.
Undertaking, while someone is overtaking; speeding up to prevent me overtaking another truck - oh yeah, you guys in cars know all the tricks!

Ah I got a question, why do truckers overtake other trucks on the motorway and take ten minutes to overtake. Seems a bit pointless to me and then they cause a big hold up. ???

my mates a trucker, he took great delight in telling me how to get round the speed govener.

something about restarting it whilst on the road?

oh and and, i believe the irish trucks are not restricted. so the ex f/i/l told me.

nonetheless, undertaking is a no no.

but aparently ok in yank land!

Yeh I thought lorrys were restricted to 55mph? I hate peoe who pull out of garages right infront of you really quickly then do 30 mph in a national speed limit road... Bizzare also how the motorway you're allowed to do 70mph but a single car back road you can do 60?! :S

Old bill have now got a 'interceptor' Silver articulated truck, nicking wagon drivers that are doing more than there 10 hours in any one day, an driving badley

Watch 'Police interceptors' on the box, they usually use, Evo 8's an10's plus scoobys.

Sorry to the lorry driver above, if you drive within the law, but there are loads that dont, especially the truck from abroad.
