Thumbs down Royalmail again

Well they have done it again, taken my packet all the way back to town just because it would not fit through the letterbox. Both my neighbours were at home and no attempt to leave it with them.
So i goes online to get them to re deliver it to my local post office, you normally have to pay 50p when you collect, they have put the price up to £1.50 it's not like it's costing them anything, the postie has to come back here each day and pick up mail from the local post office. So what is the £1.50 for.

Oh and why does it say on the card leave 48 hours before collecting from the main post office, it's only 3 miles away so why does it take so long to get it back to the main depot.

The postie has a very large round to cover & will not be back for a couple of days, maybe

I had a card left last week & I was in at the time
Called to the sorting office half a mile away two hours later there was my parcel waiting for me.
Some of us are lucky, others not so, sorry Mr Andy .............

I have had the same postman for about 5 years hes very good also lucky have a few neighbours that are always home so thats where the parcels go if I'm not home it is a pain when you are out at work but then I always made sure I gave an address that would be home ie like my mums.

Our postie is great. He does his best to deliver. If there's a problem it's usually 'cos he's not on the round that day. They're not all as good as him!

Had recent problems with one of the other carriers. (Forgot which one!) Had a towbar delivered off eBay. Like Tadpole we got a "couldn't deliver" note although there were three of us here all day! Useless !

this thread caught my eye as i am as we type waiting for good old royal mail to find my place and deliver a hd box was told it would be here today like most i wait in only to find it is now 18;42 and no parcel .
i deliver for a living and will never understand a driver who cant find an address, taking in consideration that the address is correct and they have really looked. every customer we have left a contact number for just this reason , but we cant do this with royal mail as they never know who is going to get to deliver this parcel.

this only seems to happen when i have parcels delivered by royal mail.
sometimes you can not choose who the parcel is delivered by .

My friend bought a second hand air rifle, it was delivered to a house two doors away to his new neighbours, who he hadn't met yet. No card through the letter box at all. The package was 1.3mtrs long and because the rifle was in a padded gun slip it looked like a rifle.
How he found out it was there, was when he was walking to his local newsagent, the door of his neighbours house was open and it was propped up inside the door with his name and address visible. (it gets worse)
The neighbours were out and the door was open because a plasterer was working in the hallway, it was the plasterer who signed for it and took it in from the postie. So my mate said who he was and the package was for him,the guy very obligingly gave it to him without seeing any proof of identity, just handed it over.
So off my pal went to have a strop at the local parcel office and they denied all knowledge of the delivery and wouldn't provide any details.
this is not a joke. There is no printable punchline!
