    Man`s best friend :(

I`m having to face up to the fact that my baby (Tessa) might not be with us long, she is a 13year old doberman and has been with me through some tough times over the years and has been the only female not to let me down ! She has been struggling for the past 8 months with her back legs and hips, she now has this big growth appeared on her back end which is getting bigger and bigger by the day and is clearly bothering her, she has been crying and groaning the past 2 nights which is been very strange, I`m having to pick her back end off the floor when she squats for a toilet she is messing alot in doors.

There`s basically nothing the vets can do and its only a matter of time before enough is enough, this morning has been heart breaking watching her stumbling about
I just dont know how far to go, I cant imagine her not being around. she looks so good for her age, she not grey and old looking which I think makes it worse she still wants to act like a puppy but she just isnt able to.

I know the desicion has to made soon but its just hard.

If she is starting to be in pain, then its the kindest thing to do, its always difficult though when they are a trusted companion.

    All the best

I know the feeling all to well and it is heart breaking.
We used to give our old girl something which eased the pain Think it was called devils claw?
It gave her a extra 6 months until it got bad again and then we had to bite the bullet and let her go.

Remember the good times and the way she was, She will do the same.
Shot Many 0000's of Rats, Shame very few ever lived long enough to tell the tale of the great rat killer....

i always get sad when i read posts like this
one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to make
have had to make this decision twice over the last couple of years with 2 of my faithful friends,i still get a tear in my eye when i look at the photo of them thats on the mantlepiece next to the urns that hold thier ashes
at the end of the day you its more heartbreaking to watch them suffer and you have to do the right thing
i really do feel for you antilagman
take comfort in the many years of companionship and loyalty shown and look back at the happy times you shared
take care and i wish you all the best
    Andy

I really feel for ya mate, been there just before crimbo but you have to remember if she is suffering it isn't fair on her, she is your buddy, friend and companion and i know its damn hard and the whole world sucks but in the end of the day she is relying on you to ease or end her suffering, she deserves it.
You can't show her anymore love or respect by doing the right thing even though it hurts you the most.
I wish you and and your family all the best mate, take care
If you have an opinion about me....maybe your mistaken with some one who gives a sh1t!!!!
    Have a nice Day!
