    Royal mail parcel service

The reason for me starting this post is because of the disservice i have received from the Royal mail.I purchased a bipod for £25, from foggy on this website,I do not have a paypal account so sent the cash via royal mail first class recorded. I was informed by the counter assistant at my local post office that it would be in the hands of the recipiant within two days. Great!!! I posted that 1st class recorded package on the 30th december 2011, to this day he is still waiting for that envelope. I have contacted royal mail and they have stated that the envelope made it to cambridge sorting depot and then went to another post office for delivery by postal staff. As i may have already alluded to,it did not make that final journey. I
contacted foggy who confirmed that the envelope was not delivered,so i sent another £25 but this time sent it special delivery ,which cost just under £10. Foggy received the envelope the following day. Excellent, my bipod was finally making its journey to me !!! Foggy posted the bipod the following day (10/01/12) and he has the proof that it was sent on that day.......now comes the awkward part...it has not turned up yet.
Seven days later i am still waiting for the bipod.I know for a fact that foggy posted it but the royal mail disservice have yet again lost the package. What now ?? I have contacted royal mail ,they sent me a claim form but what about the matter of £60 for a bipod i never recieved and the matter of foggy who sent the bipod with best intentions.
I have never experienced such bad service from a company that should be bringing their A game, to a market that is screaming about cheaper competitors diluting a national treasure,if that is the case then they should be buried.
I am new to this forum, but have been on "the other one" for quite a few years, i am an experienced shooter with over 35 years of trigger time.I feel bad that the first transaction i have been involved with, on this website, has gone south and i am not sure how to resolve this issue.
    Your thoughts please brothers.

oooh you better watch it, if you talk that badly about the royal mail publically like that, they may go on strike again... However when they are on strike nobody notices.
But yes their attitude to missing packages seems to be very off the point. They think sending out a claim form is going to make it all better, but yet it still doesn't produce your goods and now someone in cambridge is now enjoying a few pints at the neglegence of her royal highness's postal service

I hope the postal worker ,who should have delivered my envelope, bought a rancid kebab from a mobile fast food van and paid the price for the following three days.It has caused an issue as i do not know how to proceed,as i am £60 out of pocket and foggy has done everything he was required to do,but if i whinge then he will be out of pocket too.Maybe i should just leave it and go and buy a bipod from my local gunshop.Ironically i could have bought a genuine Harris bipod, for the same amount as i have lost, due to royal mails' incompetance.hhhhmmm

I've dealt with Foggy and, from my experience, he's been true to his word and a credit to the buy/sell function of this forum so as you rightly say, he's done his bit to the best of his abilities - everything else has been out of his hands.

As to Royal Mail, if you take into consideration the sheer volume of items they handle then inevitably merde happens - for it to happen twice in relation to the same thing is a bit unsettling: it sounds as though things on the Good Ship R.M. Bury St. Edmonds are to blame here and there may be some sort of internal investigation results from a complaint received from the same customer involving the same sorting office. My old man's a manager in R.M. and for 10 years he worked Investigation Branch (pompous title for R.M.'s cops) and if there's more than one complaint about missing items - particularly cash - involving the same depot, they put the watch on the office, plant items, that sort of thing.

Regardless - get the claim in for the initial lost money, they're pretty quick and have, IIRC, a 30 day turnaround from claim to refund (Parcelforce certainly do and they're the same firm). Foggy needs to claim from his end for the bipod as he's the sender and he has proof of postage but he needs to again wait 14 working days from the date of despatch before the item can be declared lost and compensation is issued.

Egg, i have been informed that the royal mail does not guarantee money through their system (obviously as a result of the "create/discover your own christmas bonus" scheme at bury office ) and that i will only recieve back the cost of the postage (£1.93 for cost of initial envelope).
That does not help me in the slightest and doesnt resolve my current situation.

Then you're snookered mate - the best you can do is put in the claim to instigate a look-see by the I.B.

Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted, I know, but I only ever use RMSD for anything other than letters as that IS a guaranteed method of sending anything of value - cash included - via R.M.

there's no way i would ever stick cash in an envelope.
In my opinion any small, light envelope sent "special recorded" would be easy prey to a royal mail worker. if you are going to do it its worth the extra pound to disguise it as a small parcel or something.
this is why online bank transfers are the daddy, you actually get to see when the money leaves your account on your statement. i cant see why people do it any other way.

The special delivery parcel that i sent,i did place a few sheets of heavy paper inside it and marked it as photographs,as a way of disguising it. Obviously the postal employee, who originally made his own christmas bonus, was off that day (hopefully with bad kebab guts) and an honest employee delivered my subsequent letter.
I will open a paypal account for trading on this website and the criminal behaviour of a minority of our trusted posties will become a thing of the past.
Now all i have to do is join the "cambridgeshire/bury st eds-bipods-attached-shooting-club for dodgy postal workers" (apologies to anyone who is honest from that club...if there is a club called that) and claim my £60 and bipod back (giving £25 of that to foggy for the original bipod transaction).
i wonder if they have a bit of a christmas type of, guess the present through the wrapper, competition.
If they did then my postie is a winner.
Rant over, apologies to all the honest posties who do an absolutely sterling job.
