    Economy

Whats going on at the momment? I really am confused.
Petrol is @ 1.45 when we filled up today.
    Gas is going up
    Electric is going up
Even the water rates are up???

Why arent the government doing anything about this? Income and cost freeze. If inflation goes up, so does your basic wage - worked in the 70's?
Ill tell you why. Tax is a percentage. As suppliers increase their costs, the tax is larger, meaning more money for the tax man.

But if they stripped these basic needs down to an affordable level, we would have more money to spend on the things we need to be buying to get out of this damn recession?!
We could afford to eat out, buy new things, get your new car!

Its rediculous. It will get to a stage, where it just goes bust. All hell will brake loose and the average person will riot for the right reason. (Not condoning the earlier riots. Idiots)

Why isn't there one fuel company that goes right back. Charges a £1 per . That way they would have EVERYONE using their stations and make profit through quantity not cost.
Shell announced 6 Billion profits the first quater. Does that sound right to you?

Im only 19 and i allready want to emigrate away from this country for a better life in the long term. Does that sound right to you?

    Tom

They ARE mate - they're F***ing the country up good an' proper! They're causing people to lose their jobs, businesses to close and sevices to be cut left, right and centre

The MOST annoying thing of all is the likes of David Cameron (the man with no top lip); George Osborne (the man who sleeps in a box during the day); and the rest of their cronies saying "We're all in it together" - well THEY're not "in it" at all - they're all ex-public school boys who are taking the p**s out of the rest of us - not one of them has ANY IDEA what it's like to worry about the gas bill; the electric bill; the food bill; or how are they going to manage to pay for the car insurance or road tax; or will they have a job next week; or what it's like to wait for 6 months for a much-needed hospital procedure; or any of the other things that most of us "ordinary folk" have to live with on a day-today basis. It makes me SOOOOOO ANGRY!! And I'm one of the lucky ones with a job (and thankfully - no kids to have to clothe and feed!)

    AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Sorry - think you got me going there!! You're lucky if you are only 19 - you can do pretty much what you want - if I was in your shoes I would seriously consider emigrating too - preferable to somewhere with a nice warm climate and reliable good weather..... somewhere I could PLAN to have a BBQ in a few weeks... and KNOW the weather was going to be good..........

If you know anyone in a union - get them to vote for action - at least we still have some voice (for the moment!) - we need to USE THAT VOICE!! There was a ballot of Unison members about whether to take industrial action - and only about 29% of them voted! WHY???? apathy perhaps? of those who voted, about 80% voted FOR industrial action against the proposed changes to public sector pensions - where were the other union members?? Did they just join a union for the advantage of legal help ar something? Public voice is our only defence against these Tory jokers - and if they have their way then we could lose that voice - we need to stand up for ourselves whilst we still can.

I'm not a lefty, I'm not a union member (employer wont allow it) - but I DO care about our nation and I dont want it to continue to go "down the pan" as it seesm to be doing at the moment. Millions of pounds have been cut from healthcare and social care budgets - to name but a few - but what about all the money which has "gone missing" from eg defence budgets etc?

I've not, until these last few years, been politically aware - but one thing which has stuck in my mind was seeing one of the last conservative budgets being given by the then Chancellor - a fat (I'm fat - nothing against fat!), smug looking man with a glass of whiskey in one hand and a large cigar in the other - with a p**s-take look on his face as he smugly put up the tax considerably on cigarettes and beer - whilst not increasing tax on spirits or cigars...... SURPRISE SURPRISE!! - that said it all to me!!!!! His face:- My face:-

rant over...... need to calm myself down now!!lol!

I have never been able to understand the greed and total fuc*ing stupidity of successive governments who cant grasp the simplest of economic facts, such as....
Every single item produced in our country requires a petroleum based product, from engineering to coal mining to the yuppie driving to work in the bleeding finance sector, so...?
You want to re stimulate the economy?
Easy.. DRASTICALLY reduce the fuel duties..
    Result?
Everything we make/ supply becomes more competitive in the global marketplace..

EEEEEEh if only I was George Osborne..

Read earlier today that in the 1960s a typical corporate executive or corporate business owner would earn 30x the 'standard' wage.

Today it is measured at 1000x.....

That statistic speaks for itself (although I can't find the bleeding source of where I read that from now I've gone looking for it).

It's all well and good saying that if inflation goes up, so should your wage, but the reality is the extra money that's printed isn't distributed evenly so everytime our government counterfeits some more money we all get poorer, our savings are worth less, our jobs pay less, our pensions become worth less etc. It's a massive con where we get screwed. Price of fuel will always go up because there is no alternative, if they put the price up, what do you do? Not use fuel? Blasphemy. Everything is run by fuel and thus when that goes up, so does EVERYTHING else.

On to minimum wage, the only thing that helps to do is destroy the economy even more. Chinese workers £/h + transport < English £/h, so everything is made in china destroying jobs in the UK, if you dropped the minimum wage people would be paid less, however then more things would be made here because companies could ACTUALLY afford to make them here, and then they would be cheap to buy as there's no transport involved and thus cost of making it is low. The minimum wage is the cause of outsourcing which is why we have pants industry.

Pulling the trigger, is the point of no return, but it all depends on what your aiming at.
