as I said, it's a sad state of affairs mate.
if I ever caught a poacher, I would personally make sure that they didn't make it to the police station.
I would kick the **** out of them and leave them where they lie.
you know full well that the police won't do anything with a caught poacher apart from giving you a stiff talking to for using excessive force, so why not deal with them yourself to save the hassle.

Thing is mate you can,t get away with giving them a kicking if they have any idea who you might be.
I know.I worked out that I spent over 3 years on bail at different times for using excessive force, ended up in court charged twice and some of that included dealing with badger diggers.
My personal experience leads me to believe that if a copper can get a conviction against somebody for assualt over a conviction for poaching the assualt looks better on his arrest sheet.

    it really is a joke.
it makes you wonder why no one has made the decision to poach the poachers.
even if they didn't act upon it, I should imagine there are a few people who have spotted poachers when carrying a hunting rifle instead of an air rifle and have thought about taking the shot. it makes it even more plausible when you consider that the police will do nothing with a caught poacher whether they are caught in the act, caught about to be in the act or caught after the act.
but as is always the case, you would be in more trouble for detaining them or shooting them than they would be for poaching in the first place.

if you did give them a kicking and they had no idea who you are, can you imagine a poacher going to the police and telling them that you had given them a kicking because you caught them poaching, are they really that stupid?
ok so they may want to report you for giving them a kicking, but would they really be willing to turn themselves in for poaching in the process?
    I think not.

Hello while the law abiding night shooter with permission to lamp like many on here, it is a plain fact today that there are people in all communities who will night poach deer with lamps and a 4x4 and not give a dam even to get caught as with metal detecting at night too there is much to gain with high cost of venison and gold coins, i suppose many in the city think all shooters are the same but that is never true as we know. from the article there have been casulties and i remember a few years back a gamekeeper father shot his son dead as mistake for a fox. here in the vale we have a police rapid responce team and have called out myself before now as poachers with lamps were shooting deer, or trying to push them out of woods to other land for easy shooting, up to now 15 poachers have been caught and thats in 10 sq miles, makes you think!!

two things that get me with this story no one is that its from 'the independant' - say no more!

no 2 is the following paragraph-

One email bulletin board, ******B B S, has dozens of messages from lampers using such sign-ons as "rabbit blaster" swapping tips about where to shoot, and giving details of kills and equipment, including silencers.

i like the 'including silencers' bit , i forgot its the silencer that kills not the rifle!

why don't these nobhead journalists read the threads in full, im not on B B S but im sure there would have been a simple question asked relating to the above comments.

    then there's this paragraph -

One entry on ******B B S read: "Would welcome any lamping tips at all from you experienced night-time bunny bashers ...", and another boasted of killing 28 in a night.

ive seen posts on here that show more than 28 rabbits shot in a night, so what, its legal - this kind of story is aimed at the foolish cucumber sandwich brollie brigade who have no idea about shooting one bit. They are the kind of people who will buy M+S rump steaks and believe they grew on trees as they are ignorant to the fact they were slaughtered in a slaughter house and when they find out where they came from its 'shock, horror' no they didnt come from a living animal did they?.

if you are gullible enough to read the IOS then you should be lamped!

according to my BASC literature they are very keen to hear of press stories like this, as in their own words 'we can fight the shooters corner'. Maybe worth forwarding them the link.

one very final point worth a mention, if the ******* at the IOS are reading the posts on B B S and making shite hyped up stories then beware what you post on here.
