    Exclamation Credit card

Wife has just had a phone call from the bank asking us to confirm that we had spent over £700 in just two transactions in Comet. She told the bank that it was highly unlikely to be us, as we live on an island and the nearest Comet is on mainland UK.
Apparently, somebody made a clone of my credit card, walked into Comet and spent £350 yesterday. Then they went back today and spent £370 on something else. Fortunately, the bank won't be making us pay back the money and have passed the details on to the police. But it is the principal of the matter. They might as well broke into our house and helped themselves. We would still be covered because of the insurance so the principal is the same.

I hope they catch the thieving swine and throw away the key.

A couple of weeks ago I had an email come through.

It was a receipt from apple saying I had gifted £25 to someone through i tunes. Which I never.

I got in touch with my bank and they stopped my card etc and returned the money to my account. BUT it was actually 2 transactions of £25. SO they nearly done me out of £50.

I since remove all bank details from itunes after every purchase just to be sure.

The thing that really got me was everything I try to buy on the net with my card, The fraud team suspend my card and ring to confirm transactions. yet this gift thing slipped through and they never noticed. haha

They did that to me, the card they cloned had never even been used by myself.

This happened to my mate, who discovered that he'd bought two first-class tickets on British Airways to South Africa. They caught the guys who did it..... at Heathrow when they came back! The silly f*ckers had no idea that they'd get caught like that.

That is what I would like to know.

My card was always in my back pocket. It has never gone missing. I have never used it in shops, only to make purchases online through paypal, so I have never needed to even use the pin. So how they managed to get my pin is a mystery to me, but they did.
Bank said they will re-issue new cards with new details and pin. But to be honest, I think I will just cut them up as well.

When I ask them how they got my card number, they told me they just randomly generate numbers and get lucky.

That's just it though. They randomly generated my card number, the security number on the back, the valid from and to dates, my full name and my PIN number. That's more than just getting lucky - that's a bloody miracle!
