    It pays to be respectful.

Got pulled over by the police the other week coming back from the missus on the bike:

Set the story up. On my motorbike I was coming home around about half 11 - 12pm around a nice roundabout (quite far over almost Kneedown) and came through the village towards my home.

As I was going through the village checking my mirror I saw a pair of headlights (in my opinion) tailgating me. I watched these through the village through another roundabout in my mirrors kept really close to me as I was going through some twistys.

Right worried now some boy racer is behind my going to not brake in time and end up taking me out. So as I went around a slow roundabout onto a decent straight I gave it the beans, rather me get away from any danger then get taken off. As I was getting a nice gap between myself and the car behind all hell breaks loose.

You guessed it, it was a police car. Couldn't tell as in the mirror all I saw were bright lights. Suddenly blues and twos and a big arse siren ********! Slightly brown leathers as I was pulling over. Pulled up in a nice quiet spot, turned off the engine, sidestand down, took my skidlid off and got off the bike. Turned around and nervously grinned at the copper.

He wanted to know why I had given it stink out of the roundabout and to why I was close to breaking the speed limit.

I went on to explain to him that I felt I was in danger with the headlights being so close to the rear of my bike, reaction times on his part may result in my being taken off, he had a good look at my bike and my gear (I never go out unless fully leathered up etc) agreed he had been a tad close through the village and quick twisties, also said that being on the edge of the speed limit my gear will only save me so much, and to be careful in future, wished me luck and to stay safe. Shook the guys hand and off he went. Top copper.

Lesson learned? Allways be courtious, polite, and have a bloody good reason for giving it some....but maybe I will just pull over and let the tailgating idiot past next time

All in all one brown stained leather racesuit later I was on my way again a few hundred meters to my house (staying clinically 5mph under the speed limit!) Glad there are still some decent people out there.

Don't think you quite got it el senior! The car that was tailgating me, the one I thought was a chav/boy racer, was actually a policecar. This is who I tried getting away from, and got pulled over. As I say, pays to be respectful thats all I have my licence, proper insurance, im all legit

now Junior fair play for having all the paperwork ( il have too find another reason to hit you with sticks ) but dont think i never had a bike ...... you could have done a few hundered yards turned round on a 177 pellet then then offski the other way if you where genuinly worried ,,, then you would have seen it was a cop car and pulled up , now junior its well passed your bedtime and you have schol tomorrow and if i hear your Hooning around town again you will be grounded for 2 weeks ....
