Well, got in from work tonight to find that the heater in my Aquarium has decided that the tank wasn't hot enough - so has raised the temperature enough to practically cook all my fish! came home to find them floating on the top of the tank! bah. Not bothered about most of them - but I had a gorgeous 7yo plec in there who was coming on lovely.
Thats sad news mate.

I wouldn't care, when I fed them last night I thought "hmmm, that water feels a little warm" but thought no more of it.
Ouch not good mate, we had 2 fish (of the same species) die in our tank over the weekend. They were wild caught and the water was a tad hard for them, we had 2 nice 6inch plecs in there which we just traded for an albino plec. This one seems to be going on strong!

Just need to have a think now about what to do with it next - I did have it populated with Cichlids, but I fancy a change. Don't have time for marine. I will have to have a think...
go for brackish mate, thats what i did when mine did exactly the same and killed my 6 yr old firemouth was not happy.
Chichlids are buggers anyway, very territorial and convicts are the worst of the lot.
You can determine there areas better with brackish.
But to be honest marine is not that hard to keep as they tell you, a good skimmer and a spare tank to maturate the water your all set.
Rule of thumb with marine though is bigger the tank the better, i had a 8ft custom one built in Stockport with a 4ft maturation tank right under it, sold it all with the fish about 2 years ago wish I hadn't now.
Sounds fantastic - I had a 7 foot one when I was living at home, but had to leave it there when I moved where I am now as we don't have the room. I kept a couple of Asian Box Turtles in it. My mum couldn't look after them in the end so she ended up giving them away and scrapping the tank!
