TBH just sounds like some sad ******* has dobed this poor old bugger in for being a colector.
Even one of the "witnesses" said he was into historical reenactments and was a nice old chap.

I seen a deact Bren gun the other day it was awesome. Don't people convert them to air guns for shows and stuff? Like stuff an airgun inside the bren gun so to speak.Originally Posted by Guvnor RBM
Nope, cant legally do that, once it's deact'ed it has to remain so.
I looked into making a old Bren in to a air soft gun, found I would fall foul of the law as I would be manufacturing a imitation firearm and my UKARA doesn't cover that, I'm sure it could be done but legally its a mine field.
The confusion comes from the "Real Sword" brand of Airsoft and Co2 powered AK's - there often sold as real AK's that have been converted, this is not true as such, the Co2/airsoft AK's they make do use the real upper receiver from a AK 47/74 but the lower is custom made for the job, the uppers are pulled from the parts bin before been used as a fire arm so they are never legally a "gun"
