ive caught tarantulas i the wild(females)injected them with formaldehyde at pinned them out on foam base to make little showcase momento's that we all used to send home...infact my sister recently moved house and came across the one id sent her years ago.but as a live pet? cant really see the attraction in them...theyd just sit in a tank(in a dark spot)and not really do alot.

    Hi

I used to have a Matis, she grew quite large and laid an Ootheca which I put in a clear plasic box with very small holes in and left on top of a small cupboard in the conservatory..

The wife kept putting it inside the cupboard which got me mad as I wanted to watch for the newborns hatching..

The missus said they'll never hatch as there wasn't a male, they don't actually need a male..

Anyhow, the next summer came, I went in to the cupboard for something and came across the box with about a dozed dead babies

I can tell you, she got a right old gobful

Poor little bu**ers staved to death (probably after eating one or two of their siblings!)..

I still have the mother in alchohol but I didn't get her straight in so she's a little brown instead of all green

Also kept stick insects- nasty things that fought like mad, biting each others legs clean off

    John..
to see my bonzai, gunz and watchez....

I have a Brazilian white knee tarantula and more mantis than I could possibly count lol. Chinese, peacock, ghost, Indian flower, twig, new Zealand, European, and violin mantis, many of each species. I also have leaf mimics I have a couple of bearded dragons and 6 rankins dragons as well as 9 fertile rankins eggs that are due to hatch next month. I also breed roaches and mealworms but they are food for the lizards

I love spiders, never get bitten by a fly or any other pesky flying things, the spiders keep all clear
