Some nice pics there jack, especially the cherries(?) i am planning on getting an older canon eos 300d simply so i can use it with my telescope for prime focus photography of high flying (contrail) aircraft which are another love of mine.

This is why i'll, only have 200-300 for my new gun as i need to get both, i saw a nice 300d with lens for 150 in the london camera exchange on friday, its a bit dated but will be a step up from my fuji s5600 and its suitable for my needs.
cheers simon.

Hi simon, thats quite cool! Could you use it for stars / moons etc at night?
Jetski what type of camera do you have? If it's an alt the best thing to do is play with the settings. Literally play. Do you have a tripod? A good way to start is finding something close by you that constantly moves, road, beach, river, people. Then pop it on a tripod and play with shutter speed, faster the shutter the more detail and clearer the image of moving things will be, but may be dark due to not alot of light hitting the sensor. Or the opposite a long exposure (length of time shutter is open) to get some brilliant effects. How ever too long and it will be over exposed(white effect over the image)..
Tool this on a tripod using a 3 second exposure..
And this one was a couple of seconds at night during a fireorks display.

I bought my first dslr last week, its an old D80 but very impressive, I used to process black and white 35mm when I was a teenager, and I've now got most of the gear to do it again.

There's nothing quite like a nice cup of tea
I love my Nikkon, the D40 is old but so easy to use. If it was any more complex I dont think I would get the same enjoyment tbh. I've never tried processing my own! Started off with a practica SLR film but just couldn't get on with it! Plus was costing me a fortune in film etc!

dirty, i actually like that pic it looks pretty cool, im no photography expert so i will leave the reasons why to the experts lol.
jack, yes i can take astronomical photos with my telescope and the canon (when i get it) moon and planets will be fine but DSO's (deep space objects) such as nebula, galaxies etc is a no go because you need a motorised mount that can follow the object as the earth turns, its not possible to be done by hand as some exposure times can be up to a couple of hours (yes hours!) to get a great image, for more info just type in 'photographing DSOs' in google.
my scope is a 6 inch reflector which is very useful for astronomy or photographing planes as it has a focal length of 1200 mm if i were to add a 2x magnification barlow lens it would become a 2400 mm focal length scope, if you could get anything that close in the photography world you would be talking up wards of tens of thousands for a similar lens.
prime focus is all new to me as im used to afocal (putting the camera against the eypiece) but im getting there lol.
hth a bit
cheers simon
