I had never heard of such a thing either.
when I shot his rifle, I thought he just hadn't zeroed his scope correctly, then when we went back to the field he had been in, I found out just how bad the cross wind was and figured out what the problem was.

Can I just say, my first post and I wanted to praise this sight to the hilt! I have been shooting for years (mainly full-bore and clays as I'm ex forces), but am fairly new to air guns. We have bought guns for all of us this year, SMK under-levers for myself, son and daughter and a small pistol for the wife (sounds like the beginning of a bad Les Dawson joke!) and we have joined a local club who have a field which is only two mins away from the house and we can access whenever we like so jobs a good'un.

I have spent a day or two browsing this sight and have learn't so much from you guys! An excellent reminder in how to zero (MPI method will be adopted) as I have been struggling a little to get them right, couple this with "The Artillery Method" and I can't wait for Wednesday to try out this to see how effective it is. Must admit it will feel weird to go against all my training and not be gripping the rifle to death, but I have also been running around the house trying to find all sorts of odd shite to shoot at too. Already planning to make a nice frame to dangle as much from as possible!

Listen guys, fantastic site, keep up the good work and I will post some pics if I get a chance! Happy Days!

Cheers fella, I've just been pouring over your "what gun" guide as well, fascinating read. We bought three SMK B3-F rifles and so far quite happy and I'm hoping that the 3-9 x 40 scope will turn up before Wednesday. must admit I am already looking for my next gun so your guide was excellent, but I am going for my FAC this year too so not sure if I will cross over to the dark side of .22 small arms but shotgun is definatly on the cards. Luckily, the club we are members of have an "all arms" cert for the field so if I do I will still be able to shoot whenever I like.

as we have only got a small garden about 15 yards, and we have not realy got any whear to set out sights up at 30 yards ish,, i looked on the net and found an item that sead, if you put two dots on a card one 6cm above the other one and aime at the top one and zero so the slugs are hiting the bottom one then you sights should be set at aprox 30 yards,,, is this right cos it seames to me that its the wrong way round,,,

Well I dont know about the distance between the 2 dots but the theory is correct.
Quite often when you zero a scope depending on the distance you will have 2 zero points.
The first point of zero the pellet apears to rise to (of course it actually falls).
The second zero point it appears to fall through.
The distances however vary with the weight of pellet and the power of the gun.
If you download chairgun from hawkes website you will be able to see this for yourself and work it outfor your setup.
