    Talking DIY: Simple Shooting Rest

    Hello,

I finally got round to starting my simple shooting rest. Much in the same way i made the Target Box i managed to find some "spare" materials and started knocking up the rest, so:

Found some suitable materials to use, decided on unistrut in the end...

Then cut and welded up (pigeon sh!t welding that is ) basic base frame and found floor bracket to use for the adjustable height gun rest part.

Then fabricated 2nd part of the height adjustable section (internal part), began base coating in pebble grey again and started making feet for the base using studbar and ball handles.

So this is kind of where i am at now, the main section fabricated and base coated. Need to finalise the base feet, find some kind of rubber or synthetic insert and shape it to rest the stock on (think i already have something sorted for this). Then i will probably do a camo finish to match it to the target box to finish off.

Hopefully i'll have some more progress tomorrow, thanks for any comments.

Not a critisism but just a wayward comment.
But over made & industrial for air guns ???
As for what your doing, well done, great, keep it up.
A lot of thought & time spent to do a good job of it.
Bit of good DIY V's wobbly chinese plastic.
    No contest.

Yea mate it will be solid/robust, it was more something to keep me occupied, probably far too heavy duty for air rifles in reality. It was basically what was available got used

Was gonna post all the pics of the buildup but there's not much point so here is the finished article:

Just out of curiosity i did weigh the rest and its 4.5kgs, so just a little bit heavier than a big springer

I'm surely us burly men can manage that..........

Hi, I read comments that my S16s is too heavy for big burly airgunners at 8.5lbs!

Ever thought of adding a rear rest and having a fully tilting bench rest? The odd spirit level would help too.
At the right money they would sell on fleabay.
