    £300 limit

i have aprox £300 to spend on a rifle, i have been looking at the BSA ULTRA, but as im new to hunting and not clued up at all on rifles i thought i would see what you guys recommend... I have been hunting before and have had alot of practice shooting guns as my dad owns a few (with licence)

I intend to use the rifle for rabbit and bird hunting.

I do not mind buying new or second hand.

    All help is appreciated

First thing I would say is buy second hand. I've purchased quite a few new rifles now, and you lose %40 the second you walk out of the shop.

I've just picked up an air arms s400 second hand, but is in brand new condition. With a silencer for £280. So maybe look into these rifles? alot of them come up for sale

If your going PCP you need charging gear too, say £100 for either a stirrup pump or a cylinder, then probably at least £250 for the rifle, then a gun slip for around 20 quid, scope, say £50. Reckon you will need around £450 for a full set up, few on here for sale around that price for a decent multishot set up.

Or, grab yourself a full power springer for around £150 - £200 then upgrade when you have a better idea of what suits you and more cash.

Also go to your local club and try out a few different models, you need to know what suits you and what your comfortable with.

    Happy shootin

Is it a pump specifically designed for air rifles?

If not it will A: not have enough pressure to fill your gun and B: bugger up the internals by introducing moisture.

Well if you are looking at the Ultra Ime guessing you want to go for a PCP.

Well the nearest you will get in regards to a PCP for £300 would be the ultra
Pellpax Target Sports BSA Pre-charged Pneumatic Air Rifles

or maby the Brocock AimX which is just about the same price.
Pellpax Target Sports Brocock Precharged Rifles

Both are excelent guns. As usual I would say try before you buy and keep your eyes open for deals in the sales section.

However seen as you wana a hunting rifle I would say spend a little more a get a multishot.

    Something like this maby.
