I have put links on this site - check -Search
Basically the Trade have Factory Sealed the Power Level of Precharged Air Guns in the last Few Years and Put a Seal that Should not be removed if you want to keep your Warrenty We are told that they - Manufactures was preasured into doing it under threat of possiblie legisation As before AT - Owners was able to adjust power Arguement was that the Trade does not believe owners was good / Safe enough to Keep them below the Sub 12FP Limit ![]() It was stated that under AT- Manufactures would advised customers of what they had done and Why Not seen it on any Gun todate - I have Checked New Guns all makes - on a regular basis ![]() They have normally set them with their own made pellets Aware that other pellets will give more power and accuracy They have not advised you which ones A matter of testing yourselves Would seem that most precharge Gun's are coming out around Sub 10FP with the likes of AA Pellets Best idea is to check Gun Owners forum boards to see what other owners are finding Most Will not allow discussion of AT - As believed by trade to open up can of worms about precharges available without AT - Seals ![]() BOB/R |

My opinion only: Anti Tamper was developed by the airgun trade (read AMTA) to seal your airguns (pcp rifles) so that you need to take them to an authorised agent or back to the manufacturer at your cost for all sevicing, repairs, seal replacements, power adjustments etc etc. The main driving force for the introduction of Anti Tamper was the British Manufacturers. They have made many foreign manufacturers follow suit by falsely informing them that AT is required by law. Steyr have decided not to implement anti tamper in the form of seals, breakaway bolts etc, they have re-engineered their air rifles so that the owner can still maintain them and clean them. With AT fitted rifles you cannot really strip them down for deep clean after use in the rain. AT can be easily removed but will invalidate your warranty. If you send a pre AT rifle back to air arms, they will retrofit AT to it without your permission too.

All pre-charge air rifles since 2006 are fitted with anti tamper. Springers and co2 are not affected. Imo it's not worth worrying about as it dose'nt really make that much difference. Even with At fitted you can still have your rifle tuned.

but why airgunners who spend hundreds and sometimes thousands on pcp's have the right to know what it is all about the good and bad points it basically means airgunners cant service and keep their own airguns performing at their best and legal levels' morons who turn them up and break the law will do so irrespective if fitted with AT devices they just drill them out and balls their guns up.airgunners should have the right to service their own airguns its not againts the law' AT will be the downfall of airgun manufactures over the coming years mark my words what would you do if a company sold you a brand new car with the wheels welded on and told you we have to do all the repairs on this car just bring it along to the main dealers we will charge you a fortune you would tell then to stick the car were the sun dont shine a bit of advice if you are thinking of buying a new PCP airrifle ask your dealer is this rifle fitted with antitamper devices if he says yes ask him if you buy it his he willing to repair or send back to the manufacturers everytime it breaks down at his cost and no cost to you over its warrantry period either it be 1, 2, or even 3 years etc if he says no then walk away if yes get it in writeing but personally i would buy a good S/Hand pcp without AT they are just less hassle and easier to maintaine and keep it within the law.dave Last edited by DM80; 13-03-2010 at 12:44 PM. |

So if the power tails off to the point it becomes a joke and you take your gun into the Gunsmiths, do they have to re-seal it before you get your repaired gun back????

Yes. AT would be re-fitted and even retro fitted to older pcp's by some companies.
