One last question, I wouldn't until I was more experienced but is there a minimum age for a child to come shooting with me, supervised etc.. and is the age the same for just shooting targets and animals?
Please do, start a thread with some pics and if your not sure what they are someone definitely will!

    2) A person under the age of 14 must at all times when shooting be supervised by a person over the age of 21.

Persons over the age of 14 but under 18:
    1) No person under the age of 18 may purchase, hire or be given an airgun or ammunition.
    2) A person in this age group may shoot unsupervised on private land with the permission of the landowner but must be supervised by somebody over the age of 21 if in a public place.
It should be noted that this means that a person aged seventeen and a half who may have a driving licence cannot take an air rifle from home to his club to shoot unless the gun is possessed by somebody over the age of eighteen or the seventeen and a half-year old is supervised by a person over the age of twenty-one.

Persons over the age of 18:
A person over the age of eighteen can buy an airgun and pellets and use them unsupervised.

EDIT : Its on the first post about half way down!

What type of gun is the gas gun mate?
The only illegal ones are the brocock air cartridge rifles which use a little gas cartridge that looks like a bullet.

If that is not the case and its sub 12fpe it will be legal.

not sure, i'll go up my lock up the weekend, i used to use gas catridges like these..
    http://www.triginstruments.co.nz/cat...6b598bbd88c396

used to buy them by the beer making stuff in wilkingsons, I had to put 2 in at the same time so that they were big enough, so maybe 1 bigger would have fitted to.
Is that the sort of cartridge thats illegal?

Like I said, I'll get them the weekend and post them up on here, thanks everyone

Just thinking, those 1920's American gangsters weren't daft, carrying their Thompson submachine guns in violin cases. People who hate guns are never going to warm to them, why shove our ownership of guns down their throats? I'm fortunate enough to have a legal garden to shoot in, however I am using silencers on the noisier guns. We are a despised minority, we wouldn't win a free vote to keep our guns, we must therefore make ourselves as legal, silent and invisible as possible, you know that it makes sense.

Ok, I have a question. Where I live is reasonably rural and about a 3min drive away is an huge wood with an abandoned stone quarry. All of this is on "common land" and is open for access any time you like (no vehicles). So where would I stand if I wanted to have a wander with my gun? Would I be allowed as no-one owns the land, or would it be classed as a public place?

It's a massive wood and I would love to have a couple of hours in there shooting, but I also don't want to spend time at HM Pleasure (unless it was Zara obviously) .

No you may use the land for shooting. Many places such as Spain allow the carrying of guns over common land but not here unfortunately. Get caught and HM will be pleasured.

Would it depend on any current by-laws etc? Would my local Plod be the best source then?

Bottom line is that there is no way on earth that would be allowed! 'Common land' would be described as a public place anyway and therefore a big no no to whip out your weapon so to speak. Plus the law says you must have landowners permission and I'm pretty sure if any land in the UK had no owner (and there is no such land) then you would still have no permission to be there. However you look at it, you would be breaking the law, end of.
