Theres a cheap and nasty option too, use rough emery cloth to remove any loose rust. Fill all the pits with car body filler and paint the barrel black.
I think I might just have to put it down as a patch up! I am quite pleased with how I got the stock sorted. Any ideas for a really light finish for it?
fine wire wool to get wood smooth ect and colron mellow pine stain, there are a few oils you can use to rub in when wood is stained and dry, i like danish oil and lord sheraton wood balsam all of which are cheap to buy
The BSA looks great but I am going to try and keep the finish looking really light. It should keep the chequering looking quite dark and hoping that will be a cool effect.
a light pine stain would be fine and have the desired effect your after
bringing a rifle back from the dead is so pleasing
