Silicon oil / spray - urgent information:

According to recent information on a thread on another site, using silicon on the moving parts of a gun can severely damage the action.
Thankfully I have never used silicon oil or silicon spray on my gun, but do use small amounts of Aquaseal 100% silicon grease on O rings. Because its a thick grease it is easy to control where you apply, a very small smear. Even so in the light of this information I am reconsidering its future use.

If anyone is using a silicon spray, or silicon oil to apply to their gun or lubricate moving parts I suggest they read the following.

For those that don't want to read the other thread, a shooter used silicon oil on the moving parts of a new gun and (due to heat converting the silicon to silicon carbide which is an abrasive) the moving parts completely seized beyond repair. The gun has been completely stripped by the manufacturers who have tried everything to sort it out without success.
