Hawke Sport HD 3-9x50 IR v.s. Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 3-9x50 AO IR

Having just received my Hawke Sport HD 3-9x50 IR this morning and only 5mins ago fitted it, it is in my opinion a much better scope in terms of build quality, clarity and sharpness than the Nikko.

Even the presentation of the box is much nicer with the Hawke, taking the scope out of the box it looks as if it is a higher end scope with the matt surface and eyebell just looking that bit tougher than the Nikko.

I had the Nikko on my HW100K and I found that the IR would light up your face to start with and affect your view down field as the volume of light did mess with your night vision even on the lowest setting. Also to turn on the Nikko IR it was so stiff that it would actually knock your view out, Hawke Sport is just a little click and you’re off!

On the Hawke scope only the small mildot crosshair in the centre illuminates which is very pleasant and easy on the eyes, even on the brightest setting it still doesn’t dazzle.

Pricewise I know the Hawke is a few pounds more but I would strongly recommend it.

Just thought I would share my experience as I am truly converted now to the Deben scopes!

p.s. started snowing so can get out to zero it properly

Nice comparison. Personally though when your out the IR on the Hawke isn't much good past the 1st setting it just lights up the tube so you cant see. More of a gimmick really!

Just bought a Weihrauch HW100KT and a Hawke 4-12x50 AO IR scope, I must say that I do like the gun and scope very much, I was considering the Nikko but spent a bit more and I'm glad I did.
