will putting a washer and the sleeve in front of the spring not cause the spring tension to increase thus maybe pushing you up to 12 lb/ft mark. It's only the same as putting washers behind it.

Ok so I slide it in teeth first and what type of washer? Like a metal one or Plastic or? Complete novice to this. Does the washer just sit straight and the spring hold it straight if that makes sense.

Metal washer is my suggestion, plastic will get chewed up or squashed (I've heard some horror stories lately about delrin "power bands" in certain tuning kits going pear shaped in this way).
For my HW I got a normal M10 washer, I got an M10 nut and bolt, tightened up the washer in the nut and bolt then put the whole thing in a drill. Then I spun it up against my bench grinder until it was the right size to fit inside the piston and sleeve. If you haven't got a bench grinder then something like a stone or file held in a vice might do it. If you haven't got a drill then buy one!!!!! (Or just file the washer down by hand) Don't forget to de-burr the washer before putting it in.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look for the appropriate material and get to work. I don't think theirs much clearance on the spring and piston so it might be a thin sleeve. I don't have a grinder but I have a drill! And I have a file so spinning it in a drill on a file will have to do!

Make sure the file is held securely or it will go flying
