    Question S410 Low Power

Just bought a used S410 pre AT and had it chrono'd to-day, the best we could get it up to was 10.5 ft lbs but with the adjuster screw right out it should have been over the legal limit. Was hoping to get it to 11.8 ft lbs but it wasn't having it . The guys at the club thought it needed the hammer rail cleaning but I guess it could have a bad seal somewhere. I've had a look at the strip down video on you tube and doesn't look too difficult. Will a clean sort this out? Is it straight forward to do?
What do you think? Any advice appreciated.

Used mainly RWS Superdomes but it was AA fields that got it to 10.5 I haven't really tried to find the best pellets for the gun yet. What do you recommend?

did you charge it to 190 bar? if you did it'll take about 20 shots to reach full power. i chrono'd mine at 190bar and got 10.5 ft/lb but by the time it droped to 160bar it had peaked at 11.3 ft/lb. i only charge it to 160 bar now and get 50 good shots. mines .177, its an s400 classic but pretty much the same

We started at 190bar and shot quite a lot of pellets . So probably went through 60 pellets.

You could try fitting a new hammer spring.

Good point! If I'm going to clean the rail then a new spring is not extra effort!

Has anyone tried stripping a 410 down and cleaning the hammer rail/replacing the spring?
    Is it fairly straight forward?

Polishing the hammer rail/hammer is easy mate once you've got the gun stripped. Have a look on AAOC, there is a full strip down guide for the S3/4** series of rifles. There's also a link to a vid showing how to polish the rail.

Basically you'll need fine wire wool, wet/dry paper and some autosol or similar.

My hammer looked like this just after I'd started,

And finished like this, did the hammer spring too and the hammer rail.

Thanks Muzzy looks a nice job! Is the strip down and reassemble fairly straight forward?
