    HW100

If my HW100 is pre set at 11.4flb at the factory, using 9.1gr pellets, if I was to use 10.5gr would it take it over the 12flb limit
I don't have use of a chrono but don't fancy using an illegal rifle???
    All advice welcome, cheers, Bryan

difficult to say i think bryan.
    i make 9.1 gr @ 11.4ft/lb as being about 750fps

if your gun fired the 10.5 gr at 750 fps yes it would take it to about 13 ft/lb. the chances are it wont fire it at 750fps though.
Really you need to find a way of trying it out mate.
My gut instinct is that it'll be too close to call, and as such I wouldn't risk it. I think it'd come out at about 12.2ft/lb.

Hello bunnyblatter i have tested my new hw using jsb exact 8.4 and recorded 11.6 flbs and then tested with bismags 10.5 and it went over. My r10 was the same but has been sorted now. Darran.

If it's over 12ftlb and you get stopped and tested, YOU will carry the can and the penalties can be severe. Take it back to rfd for adjustment

Many believe that a heavier pellet will give a higher output reading with a PCP, this is not always the case, i have at least two PCP's that give lower readings with heavier pellets. My .177 HW100 puts out 11.45ftlb with JSB Exacts 5.52 15.9 grn, and with Bis Mags weighed at 10.4 grn it puts out 10.90ftlb.

There are many things to take into account, pellet weight, diameter (head size) and last but not least the gun itself, they're all different and the only true way to find out is weigh the pellets and chrono the gun

I usually set my pcp's up using 10.5 bisley magnums with the theory if its legal with magnums it will shoot anything. My HW101 is more efficient with RWS superfields, JSB's and superdomes. Magnums it was doing 11.3 ftlbs, JSB's 11.8ftlbs.

    i've chrono'd a hw95 that fires

    superdome 8.3 @ 10.25 ft/lb
    bisley premier 10.6 @ 8.3 ft/lb
    h&n hollow 8.6 @ 11 ft/lb

go figure!! the ONLY way to find out is with a chronograph of your own.
