I've got one PCP and that's all I need. I've got about 6 springers though and still looking for more. You can't beat a well tuned, well made springer for sheer reliability and self sufficiency.

Mind you, when I picked the S10 as my PCP, I made a good choice. As PCPs go, it has to be one of the most reliable.

Agreed, Most PCP's are a doddle to strip and repair and usualy require nothing more than basic tools and a little understanding.
Shot Many 0000's of Rats, Shame very few ever lived long enough to tell the tale of the great rat killer....

when asking if buying another HW97K in 177 was a good idea, so many people tried to convince me that a pcp was the way to go.
springer's definitely are the way to go. they are more of a challenge to shoot, when you hit the target with one you actually feel like you had something to do with it, they never run out of air, they are always good to go as long as you have a tin of pellets and a good springer in the right hands can be just as accurate if not more accurate than a pcp.

Springers are the new toy. Air rifles (as i remember reading) started life as pcp's. They were used for a bit of snipering as the black powder gave the shooters position away. Used up untill earley last centry for hunting because of there stelth. But they were very very expensive, so they scaled them down and stuck a spring in them, lost there stelth, and whacked them on the market very cheep. Its only the recent developments in to pcp design that has made them affordable and reliable. Now they may go wrong from time to time but for a hunting wepon, they are extreamly good. A few bunnys together, you take a shot, and you take another one. Saying that if you go out for a week end, your buggered with a pcp as the air problem, but saying that, how many times do you go out and empty 50 shots??
Pcp's are also very boaring down the gun range, people sit there, braging that the pellet goes through the same hole, wtf!!
with me, pcp for hunting, and springers for the range. Best of both worlds and no one wont change my mind

Paul you come out with some crap somtimes.

Leaks on PCP's are a doddle to fix no need for F*** off spring compresers or turning your gun into a pogo stick and its not like they spring leaks every other week Ive got a daystate here thats held air for over 7 years. Then you have all the pro's that go with pcp's like Silence..and recoiless and multishot.. the pros far out weigh the consif you ask me.
Outlaw guns and only the outlaws will have guns.

I agree 100% with what you've said apart from the last part which is incorrect. PCP's will always outshoot springers but they're not for me.

I've got a HW80 MK1 that is still going strong after 26 years, I have replaced the spring and the guide but that was only because the friend I bought it off thought it was perfectly fine to fit the rifle with an illegal spring. other than that the rifle is totally original and I have had it confirmed that it shoots as good now as it would have done when it was brand new.
can you really tell me that a pcp would still be like new after 26 years of use and no new parts?
