Ebay £30 designator tip.

If you have brought one of the cheap green laser designators off ebay heres a tip to get a narrower beam for greater distances.
Boil the kettle get a small cup of boiled water, now get a small food bag, place the designator into the food bag and put it lense down into the cup. The heat from the water will melt the glue on the lens ring, now get a small flat ended screwdriver and remove the thredded lens ring and then the lens will drop out. Clean any crap off the lens and put it in a safe place. You will now need a rubber oring or a tap washer which is the same diameter as the lense, put the oring or tap washer in then the lens now fit the lens (make sure the thicker part of the lense faces out not in) and now fit the lens ring, you will notice that the lense ring may only bite with only a few turns until tight but dont worrie you can dab a spot of airfix or any other glue on the threds to lock it in. Dont use super glue on the thred or you will shag the lens up.
Now wind the spot to its minimum setting, the spot is now 50% smaller and you designator will now go alot further.

Even before i adjusted the desy it was excellent but now ive adjusted the lens its different again. All that I can say mate is if youve a spare £30 odd quid get one, you wont be disapointed. Adjust the lens and you will have a designator just as good as any other thats on the market but at a fraction of the cost.
