Ideas for a deserving cause please

I had a scope for sale that was causing consternation and people arguing over whether it was "genuine" or not. The sale notification has been taken down to prevent any further finger pointing. As a gesture to show people that I am not trying to "lift peoples' collective legs" or pass something off that isn't quite as it seems I have said I will GIVE the scope to a deserving cause.

SO, is it OK for me to ask the members for ideas of where that "deserving cause" might lie?

I don't mean "give it to me, give it to me" either. If someone has heard of a hard luck case, or other worthy situation I could consider please post it up. Then, when there are a few ideas we can all have a discussion and it might even be I stick all the names in the hat and get Miss World, (I have her home number !) to pull a name out as a way of making the decision.

If this is also not an acceptable idea, then just say so - politely. I don't mind being criticised provided it is done in a civil manner.

    I thank you.

Why not auction it off and give the money to a charity? Id vote an animal welfare cause.

Also good on you for doing something like this.

like the others say auction it off and donate the money, help for heroes is a charity close to my heart as are the RNLI.

i know there are lots of charities but those are the 2 i personally would opt for.

I'm happy to donate a fiver towards a charity, how we choose a deserving cause for the scope, I'm not sure, as has been said, maybe a junior.

Maybe we could all put a couple of quid towards it and buy it as a group. Then we Accuspel can donate the money to charity and we could give the scope to a youngster who needs one.

I am not interested in the scope! Could we auction off Miss world instead? I am going to consult with my financial advisor tomorrow (I have him on speed dial) for a second mortgage, no way am I getting out bid!!
I am a deserving cause, my wife has shares in a pharmaceutical company and her middle name is Nurofen. Miss World would have to send me a resume though.
    Can she clean out Ferrets?
Does she know how to strip and clean a semi auto shotgun?
Can she gut and skin rabbits?
I need mugs of tea on the hour every hour.
I also want a picture of her mother, I want to see how she wears after a few years.
I will start the bidding now at ......50p and a Mars Bar!

The idea wasn't to get you lot to part with money at all, just ideas. An auction would still mean someone parting with money for something that some folks think is a fake. If you want to do a collection for H4H, fine....but I think the scope needs to be coinage free.

So, anyone know of any youngsters or a club or other worthy recipient?

As for SteveB and his thoughts on what he is going to do with a 50p piece and a mars bar.......it will melt and go all over the rug!

Who cares if its a fake or not! go in to a charity shop with a bag full of knock of clothes and see if the old woman behind the counter turns you away. If its going to a good cause whats it matter. Also if you auction it on ebay you can add in the listing that the proceeds are going to charity and normaly people will bid a little extra.
