You're better off letting the rifle recoil freely as in the artillery hold. Also bipods are a big no no for springers.. I thought you knew this?

I am in need of a new sling for my HW80. it already has a swivel in the butt and one mounted on the barrel. these are fixed swivels that do not open.
will any new sling that I buy be able to thread through the swivel head? the current sling is leather with metal buttons on each end, you thread one end through the swivel and fasten the button, are all new slings similar to this?
I not only use my sling to carry the rifle when not in use, I also wrap it around my arm to help steady my aim which I have found to be the best method of keeping my rifle on aim without resting it on a bi pod or something similar.
I would like a padded sling to make the rifle comfortable to hold but also a sling that will allow me to wrap it around my arm as I described above.
any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have never used a bi pod with a springer, of course I know that
as for holding my rifle steady using the sling, I never said that I grip the rifle tightly, just enough to steady it.
I got a brand new Theoben leather sling - they have buttons like you describe, screw in buttons. About £20. You can see it in the hunting section pictures on the Olympus.
Sandwell Fieldsports also have some great slings. I was in there the other day and they have every type, but again very affordably priced leather ones. Give Tony a ring and I am sure he'll tell you what they have. A really friendly shop. They do have a website too but I don't know if accessories feature heavily on it - I have never looked!
thanks for the info mate.
