    range finding with mil dots

my scope of choice is a hawke sport HD 3-9x50 AO mil dot.
if my zero range is 30 yards, at a certain magnification will each dot above or below centre give me the POI + or - 5 yards?
the scope has 4 dots above and below the centre cross hairs, so if my zero range is 30 yards this should mean that using the dots and the solid bar underneath, I should be able to shoot from 5 to 55 yards.
is this right or do I need to use another method of range finding, can this be done with the parallax ring on the front?

I did a post on this a few months back. You need to download Chairgun Pro. It may not give you the answer to the meaning of life but it will certainly tell you you POI at different ranges etc... I find it more fascinating than watching Eastenders!!!

I don't have an IPhone that will run it.
I tried it on a friends phone and I found it very hard to use, do you use the camera for range finding? if so, how?

Ermmmm.... camera? OH I see on the Iphone!!! NO!
Chairgun Pro runs on your computer. You sit at home, input the pellet weight, Chrono figures, Scope details and it gives you a nice pretty picture of your reticule ( OOOOh Mrs!!! ) and tells you what range for what dot on your scope Shimmmples!

My article told you how to JUDGE range by looking ay Flopsy, Mopsy or Cotton Tail through your scope and counting the Mil Dots. There was a debate by my esteemed Forum Friends about using Laser scopes, and bionic eyes!!! See if I can find it for you!

I'm having a bit of a problem with chairgun.
selecting your calibre and pellet type is fine, do you not have to select your make and model of scope and rifle?
