I have been involved with air-rifles (owning and shooting) on and off for nearly 50 years, and as an experienced "airgunner" I was reading the post's on the forum and there is definitely an "anti" affordable priced gun scenario.
What I want to know is, why?
Are we not, all, "airgunners"? or is there a select group, who consider the cost of an airgun to determine the status of the shooter.
I personally have owned guns from a lowly Diana Model 25 too overpriced PCP's with whatever sidewheel px, AO, japanese to cheap taiwan, telescopic sights.
Who gives these charecters the right to say that if you own a low-priced gun then you are of a lower "caste" than someone who owns the latest far-eastern built (as they all seen to be these days) Pysuedo European Gun (BSA, etc). Dont forget, the guns heritage is no indication to its manufacture, Webleys are built in Turkey and Spain and are of a far higher quality now than they were from a couple of years ago. BSA's are built in China, (edit, read Spain) Oh dear I hear you say, I say look at the quality to the last ones built here.
There is a phenomenum at the moment for "instant" results. Im my youth when you wanted performance you had to work for it. I own guns that cost less than £200 that WILL out perform modern guns of a similar type. For example I own a Chinese break barrel .22 that WILL outshoot a Weihrauch of similar construction.
I also own a HW77 (1991) that is regularly serviced and it is "only" as good as another chinese underlever I own.
Gentlemen, the gun is as good as the guy shooting it, and I would suggest that, if you feel the cost of your gun is the determining factor in how good YOU are, then you need to practice more and stop typing drivel.

Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) made in China??? You've obviously never visited their factory at the soon to be renamed Gun-Quarter in Birmingham have you? Lovely day out by the way guys if you can get in!!!![]()
To be fair. You do make a very good point in highlighting the fact that some airgunners, me included, from time to time get blinded by the price of a new rifle and assume it must be good and that it will make it easier to land those prize winning shots.
As it happens, I learnt fairly fast that although expensive guns felt nice to hold and are often very nice to look as they couldn't stop my wobbly arms from working their magic.
Thank You Gunsmith!.................................................. .....................................Sorry Bank Manager!
Sorry I have made an error, The BSA guns are made in Spain now (so much better).
All I am saying is, dont dismiss something without thought, because someone says so.Attachment 31941
These are a few rifles I own
I don't think i've seen any evidence of that on this forum?Who gives these charecters the right to say that if you own a low-priced gun then you are of a lower "caste" than someone
do you really think bsa's and webley's are better now than the uk made versions
look at a bsa ultra's breech blockmy old one looked like it had been rubbed down by a monkey
,and then theirs the trouble with the mags and the probe o'rings.
i've not seen to much sobberey on here re gun's makes etc,i have daystates and smk and enjoy shooting both equally, but i'm struggling to see where this thread has come from and why![]()
