I do actually get the point, similar snobbery can, and does happen in the powder burner world; I know some people that seem to look down on others because they don't have a Sako Quad, and in the shotgun world, where you may be considered to be a chav, because you only have a Hatsan, and not a Browning.

Many people at my local club have top money kit and also cheaper chinese style kit and enjoy them all equally.

Not noticed any gun snobbery myself.

Some buy the cheaper chinese kit and modify so much that by the time they've finished very little of the original still exists.

Enjoy what you got and make the most of it.

Some of what he said is true a lot of its down to the shooter. Having said that Chineese guns shooting as good as high end British or German I'll put that to the test If you can get your Chinese springer and shoot a 10 shot group as good or smaller than my Air Ranger I will give you the gun!
Why would anyone buy a Daystate, Air Arms, Weirauch ect if you could spend £30 on a B2 and be shooting the same? it just does not happen. Granted if your shooting tin cans at 15m its not going to make much difference but if your shooting live targets you want one shot kills and at 30yd its not going to happen 10 out of 10 shots.

As for gun snobbery down at my local range people show up with all sorts from £30 rifles to £1200 FT rifles and honestly we dont have a seprate hut for the cheap nasty shooters. If you show up with a new gun be it a chinese springer or a high end pcp whoever is shooting at the time will have a go with it and give you there opinion on what they think of it.

There have been some great comments about some new Chinese stuff and only the other week a BSA R10 was slated to death. Different clubs may have different outlooks but this is how it is at mine.

What I want to know is, why?
Ford Ka or a BMW M5, what's the difference they both do the same thing but eveyone has a choice but the door of the M5 will close with a different sound and feel to the door on the Ford KA.

I don't think there's an "anti" affordable gun scenario and the reason I say that is I've lost count of the number of times I've seen people come in and ask "What's the best gun with xxxx budget" and it's so often a small budget.
There are endless replies and suggestions made for "affordable" guns and also what upgrades can be made to cost effectively improve them, these replies more often than not made by people that also own some of the top of the range airguns available.
I know if I had the money I'd like to try them all but I'm also very aware that I love bangers and mash as much as I do fillet steak and smoked salmon !!!!!!

PS / Edit: Unfortunately though to a degree I do think in this world you get what you pay for and if the top of the range didn't offer anything better than the cheaper competition there wouldn't be a market for the more expensive and they'd get hammered on forums like this BUT I don't think there's a "anti affordable" agenda on the forum.

Who cares what rifles you own but yourself. I have purchased 3 realtivrely expensive rifles this year because i wanted to start shooting again after a long break.

HW 100, Brand new, AA S410 second hand, and a Daystate Airwolf second hand. Does it make me a better shooter, of course not but since i can now afford these now my kids have grown up, i have bought them.

Would i buy a cheaper springer, never, had these when i was younger and i prefer the more "modern" technonolgy. Are springers inferior? I don't think so but PCP's are for me a lot more easy to load and use.
