I find the members of this forum very helpful, I'm a quick learner and hve gained much knowledge by asking questions and listening to answers. I actually managed to help a member who wanted a moderator adapter for his EB22, I had just purchased one myself and was dead chuffed to be of service. I have never noticed any one upmanship, there are guys on here who can lose me due to their knowledge, but surely that's good for the forum.

I find this a excellent site and never come across any snobbery because of what guns people own, i have found everyone very helpful and friendly. I have owned daystates to weirauch and now own a smk synsg only because i wanted to see how good these cheaper guns are and to be honest with a little bit of work and a tuning kit from woodfield gunshop it has turned into a excellent rifle that is quiet, consistent and accurate, but when you take into consideration of my time stripping and tuning, work on the trigger and the cost of the gun and tuning kit it works out the same as a bsa or webley all in all. If you enjoy tinkering with guns like i do then by something cheap and if you want everything tip top straight from the box then spend your money on bsa, webley, weirauch or what you can afford. My next purchase to the collection is going to be a hatsan 60s because they are cheap and i have heard good things about them

I started out with a Westlake B2 hunting cardboard targets in the back garden, my wife managed to shoot herself up the backside with this gun (whilst aiming at a target down the garden, I kid you not)! When we found that using the SMK pellets we could actually shoot a curve to the right, we gave up and purchased the ubiquitous Edgar Brothers 60 S rifles (loved that gun), I then went power mad and bought a £240 Webley Stingray mark 2 and found it was an Edgar Brothers 55 S (with a worse safety), I was not chuffed.

My elbows went (tendonitis) so I had to go PCP as cocking a break barrel was killing me after half an hour on the range, so I went PCP with a Hatsan AT44 W10 that I loved. The only reason I got rid of that was that the wife had bought herself a Daystate she did not like (an X2, same calibre as my AT44), well who would not want a Daystate, that was a beautiful rifle, then when she went all Scorpion SE on me and I got taken into the shop of delight that is John Knibbs, where they had the last new Super 10 Bull Barrel Carbine .177 in the country (this was last year) and I am a Super 10 addict, so it got traded...

So I went from the cheapest rifle on the market to one of the most expensive before settling back into the mid range again! No need for snobbery but I think sometimes the Chinese airgun lot are a tad overzealous, the quality in the Chinese rifles is catching up, but is not up to what the source rifles are! But watch out! They are getting better!

I fully agree with the above part of your post. However you should take your own advice. Most of your post appears to be demonstrating what you are complaining about ie judging guns by the (low) price!

Most air rifles now a days will outshoot there owners a middle of the road pcp is just as accurate as a top end one as long as there all functioning properly. Just because one man wants all the bells and whistles and another just wants or can afford a more basic model really means nothing. If we all spent more time shooting and less time talking complete nonsense like this then we would be better shots. I would say gents get a life.

but this supposed argument could be transferred to anything and everything...i drive a 1999 landrover defender simply because it does everything i want, though in the past ive had everything from new (bmw)mini cooper to mercedes to audi quattro, but my landy is 'for me'the best thing out there.
I used to change my motorbike every 2 years for the latest plastic missile, again ive had numerous GSX-R's,R1s etc but ive had my TL1000R for some 13yr now...even rebuilt it to as new rather than buy new bikes, simply because again, for me...it does everything i want a bike to do.
Gun wise, yes i admit im a bit of a daystate affecianado..but the model ive settled on despite having more expensive guns from new is the cheapest they make...the huntsman classic,i wasnt bothered too much about the cost when i bought it,nearly went for the mk4 or panther, but for 'me'the huntsman does it all and it just so happens its also the cheapest thing too..but who knows as the wolverine is due for release shortly and that in my eyes is simply a 'better'huntsman(at least on paper it is)so i may well try one of those.
Am i bothered or even remotely interested in what others think of my choices in anything from my guitar to boat? well the answer as mudmonster would confirm is a resounding no!
Ive always gone for what i believe is the best qualitychoice for whatever the task is i want the 'thing'to do and its as simple as that.Im not to concerned about the origin of manufacture...ive even had american cars(pontiac fierro)and i cant say that was of any great build quality!
By the same token im old enough and wise enough to know that just because someone may appear'rich'by first appearences that it doesnt follow that they are neither intelligent or indeed as affluent as the image they try to portray. A guy i know fairly well drives a mk2 discovery and wears jeans/lumberjack shirt 6 days week whilst at work driving a digger...however what a casual bystander doesnt know is that andy actually owns the industrial estate he is 'digging away daily'along with 2 other estates..he owns a beautiful house..has aston martin etc and not one but TWO helicopters! both hughes 500s and they aint cheap!flash he isnt..clever/rich guy he most certainley is.conversly the john terrys of this world may appear to be rich but scrath the surface and one soon finds people like him are simply assholes/fools despite all the flash and cash.
So too judge someone simply by the gun they shoot? id find it impossible, only the other day i heard of a guy who took his brand new pcp back to the shop to change it for a springer simply because the pcp was too easy to shoot! maybe back in victorian days you could judge a guy by his clothes/job but these days you have immigrants living on benifits in £1million houses, and super rich living on canal barges....the best advice i can give is simple...buy whatever suits'YOU'best and then so long as you get to enjoy it,dont worry about whatever others think as firstly they are probably wrong and secondly...who gives a fcuk!?
