    SMK SYNXS .22

    OK! Here we go,

I bought my SYNXS around a month ago.
Before buying the gun i set my intentions on getting the B2 rifle also made by SMK as it was a very cheap rifle, and was all i was looking for as i was starting out.
I went into a gun shop down Great Yarmouth called Pownalls and saw the deal for my rifle and just thought i had to take it. I paid £80 for the rifle, mounts and 4x32 scope.
Half an hour after buying the gun i took it for a test out the back of a family members shop (without the scope). I made sure the rear optic site was set dead central and the wind was down so I started firing away.
I set up a piece of wood and drew a simple target on and put it up against an old matress.
At about 10 yards i was hitting the middle of my targets within 1/2 an inch, so i decided to place a 2p piece balanced on the matress, and i hit it.

The fibre optic sights front and rear on the gun capture alot of needed light and really do perform to a high standard. And with the scope mounted its still a very accurate gun once the scope is properly zero'd.

The general build of the gun feels really nice, everything feels solid and nothing rattling around etc.

The black synthetic stock is extremely light, has nicely edged grips either side, nice and strong and is weather proof. The butt of the gun has a white spacer with a spaced, rubber butt pad.

The rifle to me is a fantastic starter rifle and would recommend it to anyone.
i was doing penetration tests at different yards with it today and from 10-35 yards the rifle (using spitfire points) was penetrating and exiting either end of a can of beer.

This is my first review, and it's probably terrible haha.
But i hope there will be many more as i intend on getting bigger ad better rifles one day

    Thanyou for reading.
    Dane.

They can perform upto 11ft lbs with the right pellet buddy.
and i totally under estimated the power of this gun. as i shot at a pigeon at 40+ yards and it was an instant clean kill.. you'd be suprised. trust me.

    Nice little review that

I really would get it tested to see what power it is producing though. On your other thread in the 'Gallery' you mentioned it is supposed to be doing 750 to 900 fps. If that is a .22 then it is WELL over power. This leaves me to believe that you have been given the specs for a .177.

Also, set up your targets at different ranges to determine the trajectory or arc of your pellets flightpath. This will help you to gauge the POI (point of impact) at different ranges. This is paramount to successful hunting and will save you a lot of frustration if you work it out now

Pelllet on pellet at unlimited range regardless of conditions (yeah right)

    8ftlb at very best!

I think you'll find that they are 6ftlb out of the box. You have to tweak them to get any higher.

Dane, I aint dissing you mate - you've written a good review. Its nice to hear the flip side of the coin.

I personally hate them, and I have pea shooters with better power and accuracy. But you never know, maybe I'll fire a decent one one day and I'll have my mind changed.

Have you chrono'd it by the way?

Nah, I haven't chrono'd it. But if my gun kicks only is kicking out at 6ft lbs then i can't wait to get myself a 12ft lbs rifle or close..

you DON'T have a gun bag?? Oh dear! How did you get it home?

Yes, just pop it into a shop or buy a chronoscope and test it yourself but DON'T venture into a public place unless you have the gun in a gunbag.

This is where you will see the difference in a cheaper rifle compared to one of quality. If, for instance your rifle IS putting out 6ftlb and it kicks like you say then if it were 12ftlb the recoil would be so harsh as to make any level of accuracy virtually impossible

Pelllet on pellet at unlimited range regardless of conditions (yeah right)
