Right, so I got these pellet trial packs to try in my Logun Axsor .177 and Daystate Mk3 .22 from Clubshot to try and they arrived this morning.
The first thing I'll say is that this is by no means scientific. My Axsor takes a while to settle in to a new pellet and once it does it don't like changing brands. Also, each barrel is different so what works in one gun may not work in another. But this is what I thought of them in my guns.
In .177 I got:
Defiants 7.8gr in 4.50mm & 4.52mm
Exterminators 9.5gr 4.50mm
Defiant FAC in 15gr(Bob's mistake)
And in .22 I got:
Defiants 14gr in 5.50 & 5.52
Defiants 18gr in 5.52
Exterminators 16gr in 5.52
(bit confusing but bear with me)
So the first thing I did was to test the power. I weighed the .177 Defiants at 7.8gr but on the tin it said 7.5 but to be fair, the scales aren't great. But I went with what the scales said to err on the side of caution.
I did four shots with each and took an average:
Defiant 4.50 at 7.8gr = 11.81ftlb
Defiant 4.52 at 7.8gr = 12.06ftlb
Exterminator 4.50 at 9.5gr = 11.78ftlb
Defiant FAC 4.50 at 15gr = 12.25ftlb
Defiant 5.50 at 14gr = 11.22ftlb
Defiant 5.52 at 14gr = 11.26ftlb
Exterminator 5.54 at 16gr = 11.26ftlb
Defiant 5.52 at 18gr = 11.21ftlb
Okay so every barrel is different but I found the most consistent to be the 52's and I think it showed in the grouping too.
I put one sheet at 35 yards and the next at 43 yards (furthest point of the range)
So first the .177. I did eight string groups and they're not too bad. Not brilliant but still, not too bad. I'm not expecting great results from so few pellets but it gives me a rough idea and I may well go for tub. Don't forget, my Axsor don't like changing pellets brands but its worth a try.
Next the .22. With these I did five shot strings. It didn't like the 5.50's at all. They were very inconsistent power wise but then my Daystate prefers a wider pellet so I'd expect that. The 18gr Defiants were probably the most accurate with only one flyer, closely followed by the 16gr Exterminators which produced 5p sized groups with one flier and the 5.52mm 14gr Defiants pretty much did the same (without the fliers).
Difficult to decide which I'd choose out of those three but one thing I noticed was that because my Daystate is so stupidly quiet, I can always hear pellets clearly after firing. Except the Exterminators. They were almost silent for some reason
Personally, I like a flatter trajectory so I'd probably try the lighter ones for the .22 so it'll be the 14gr 5.52mm Defiants for me. But I cannot doubt the accuracy of the 18gr 5.52mm Defiants, they were really good.
As for the .177, like I say, she's a fussy girl but out of the three choices (the FAC is not really an option) if I really needed to choose, I'd go for the 9.5gr Exterminators knowing that the groups over time will tighten up and that their weight will hit harder. Best to leave the lighter ones for the FT shooters. But, to be honest I'll stick with my JSB 4.52's
Anyway, to sum up, I like them. Nicely made, clean etc and apart from two fliers, My Daystate loved them![]()
Pelllet on pellet at unlimited range regardless of conditions (yeah right)

I’ve just found what I was looking for, it was where I left it …
Cheers taddy![]()
It is difficult to review pellets because like I said, each gun is different and so they will perform different in each. Also, a gun often needs to settle in to a new pellet for 50 shots or so before the groups start to shrink. Except for my Daystate which is not a fussy eater (the fat cow)
What I can say is that they are very well made, clean, nice quality pellets and I DO recommend you try them. My mate had accuracy issues with his Logun solo until he tried 16gr Logun Penetrators which are relabelled Exterminators. He loves them and one-holes all the time.

Steve,
Good report
Do lot's of Pellet Testing @ Pax
Spent Many hours Testing pellets in Daystates
As as made pellets for them
We had Several Gun's to work with - Tony turned up with his competition Gun
And it did not like the ones We made for them
But worked in other Testers Gun's
As stated groups will tighten with use - as Barrel get more polished
Defiant 15's - not Mistake - Bonus - also known to give good Results in Daystates
Reason they have ordered them in own Boxes

Nice, informative review. Must have taken alot of time!
In my lad's Scorpion John Bowkett put some of the Defiants down it, and others. The gun was virtually new, so the barrel was clean. The Defiant 5.52 size posted a group of just 22mm across AT 50 YARDS. The JSB Exacts were a bit bigger and Accupells about the same as the Exacts.
Funnily enough Bisley Superfields also posted a good group, but H&N FTT weren't much cop, nothing like as good as the Accupell (just as easily obtained.)
The trouble is, when I first set the gun up we got best groups with the Accupells, so I bought 5000. Once they are gone we'll definitely being getting the Defiants and it has also prompted me to try Defiants in other guns - they are unbelievably good pellets and for some reason don't seem as effected by cross winds.
I would definitely suggest people at least try them, but they do need a clean barrel before they will start to work. A few (30) pellets down the barrel will soon scrub the lead coating out. Then you watch those groups tighten up as the Defiants get a good grip on the rifling.
thats what i call a great review!
Thanks guys
I bought a box of Defiants in .22 (5.52mm) from Clubshot last week. You get 650 in a box for £13 posted. I took them hunting last night and after zeroing at 30 yards I practised for a while at different ranges up to 50 yards to get used to the trajectory. I must say that the 14gr Defiant has a trajectory that is almost as flat as a .177 so I went for a short walk.
I saw a bunny at 45-50 or so yards, I took careful aim and pow! perfect shot! One rabbit seen, one shot fired, one rabbit bagged
I realised yesterday that in my review I totally forgot to try them in my TX200HCThey are sure to behave totally differently in a springer so as soon as I get some more trial packs I will update the thread to include my results
