The LED 7438 Lenser Police Tech Focus Torch has quickly built a reputation for being the preferred choice for the boys in blue. This torch is extremely popular because of its handy compact size and, weighing in at just 144 grams,it's also very lightweight to carry on your belt. The on/off switch, positioned on the rear tail cap, enables the torch to be pulled from the pouch and switched on in one motion, making it ideal for signalling with. The contacts are 24 carot gold with aircraft aluminium casing. A patented prism reflector system and a high intensity 1.25 watt LED bulb give this torch a supremely bright beam, which can be adjusted to either spot focus or flood focus by twisting the head of the torch. The light output is 105 lumens from just 3 x AAA alkaline batteries, which provide up to 50 hours of light from one set. This torch is supplied with a lanyard and durable nylon pouch with belt buckle for storage when the user is active.

Right now that is out of the way here's my view...

I've been using the tesco Cree lamps for some time, and always been happy with them, a couple of my mates have picked up the 200 and 300 lumer Ultra Fire lights and I was blown away by there power... so I fancied some thing with a little more "gun" - whilst in Maplins I saw these on sale at £29.99, granted I could pick up a Ultra fire with a charger for that but these look and feel much more sturdy in hand, I asked the assitant what the lumers where and was told "160"... I was a tad annoyed when I got home, read the web site specs and found out it was a meer 100...

Now lets get that in to perspective though... a 2D mag light is 27 lumers, a maglight AA is 5 lumers... so 100 should be plenty...

Well I have no reason to complain... due to the focusing head, it makes full use of it's 100 lumers, it might not be as bright as the Ultra fires but it goes much further, getting a usable beam from 200 to 250 meters.

The flood light function is great for close range area lighting or aiming at a roof to bounce back down as a soft room light.

    Here's some pics

This is my back yard, just the lights from the house

    On Flood light setting

    On spot lamp mode

and the Tesco Cree for comparison

I have a T7. Can't fault it for lamping. Batteries seem to last for ages as well.

They say up to 50 hours, I get about 20 on lithiums before I notice a drop... makes them very cheap to run

Any sure fire filter kit should fit, but as t's not a dedicated weapons light I dont think Lenser make a mount for it

I bought a mount off ebay for mine. Its a standard 25mm fitting, so most fit. Dont know about filters though. I just use sweet wrappers, but wouldn't mind something that looks more professional myself.

the picture with the cat and light on spot , how far away from you was that . i just find it hard to belive such a small torch can produce suitabile light to go hunting . iv never seen one in action ( torch that is ) i assumed you need a big light like a tracer max . looks really impressive .

Mine is very effective. I can do a quick scout accross a field out to 100 yards plus, looking for eyes reflecting. At 30 yards, you can't see anything but a light and it hurts to look at it (I had my nephew shine it at me). You can't see what is holding it, or how far away they are. It feels like its a long way away, even though you know it isn't.

I have no complaints about mine.
