I've got an HW97K in 177 - had it for about a year now, and love it! I've been waiting for the time when I come to strip it for the first time - it's still got it's 'cut-off' spring in it as supplied by Hull Cartridge, the UK importers. I'm also going to put in a tuning kit - which I think this gun deserves and will make it even better, smoother etc. Overall, for me this gun does what it says on the tin, so if you're after a springer, you can't go wrong although you might like to consider the Air Arms X200 - which appears to be popular and well thought of.

I'm personally a bit prejudiced against BSA - from the point of view of the build/assembly quality I've found in my Supersport - which is not of the best. I don't know if all BSA springers are now made in Spain since they became associated with Gamo - but I doubt if build or even design quality will gain much if they are.

Downsides with the HW97K - for me, anyway: the weight. I can't shoot it from the standing position - partly because of the effect of long-term statins on arm muscles.

funnily enough i was shooting my mates 97K last weekend, an absolute dream, yes it is heavy and if your a young shooter or have any form of disability that could effect your strength in holding a gun I`d say go for the BSA lighting (not the tactical the polymer furniture is awful) i personally dont like the BSA lighting but its because i am a fairly big chap and it feels like a toy in my hands, but i have heard good things about them,

I went for the middle ground and bought myself a Diana 280 T06 .177 lovely gun medium weight and doesnt break the bank balance
