    Logun Axsor Carbine

I bought my Logun Axsor in .177 a couple of months ago and I feel that it is about time I did a review.

    • Accuracy: Pellet on pellet accurate! I have no problem hitting 8mm fish food pellets at 35 yards (they pop when hit ) using Webley Accupels. And I have achieved some really good shots on rabbits in the field using Bisley Magnums. But recently I have been using H&N Field Target Trophies and I will be sticking with them. 9/10
    • Handling: Weighing just 6.8lb standard or 6.4lb in carbine makes the Axsor easy to carry around the field and more importantly, easy hold steady while taking aim, although I prefer to shoot from a rested position. The balance point is just in front of the trigger so it is very nicely balanced. 9/10
    • Reliability: Cant comment too much on this as I have no idea how old mine was when I bought it S/H. It did have two leaks which were very easy and cheap to fix and it now holds every bar of pressure indefinitely. At one point the spring that indexes the magazine broke but this too was very easy and cheap to fix and I was still able to use the gun while I waited for the part.At one point my pellets started to jam but I solved this by merely lubricating the magazines, problem solved. 8/10
    • Use in the field: The Axsor is a very quiet gun but mine seems a little louder than others I have heard on YouTube and it has a weird after twang not unlike a fart through a spring! Still, the rabbits don't seem to mind It packs a good solid punch and I have used mine to great effect on bunnies and feral pigeons. The bolt has a tendency to pop out when stalking Once as I was scaling a bank, ruining a good chance and once when I was getting myself into a prone position to take a shot at a couple of rabbits. On both occasions the rabbits didn't know I was there until they heard the click . Annoying as you then have to remove the magazine to avoid breeching another round as you push the bolt back in. To avoid this I have got into the habit of loading the magazine, pushing the bolt in to load a pellet, then drawing the bolt back out whilst I stalk. Because of this, and although I love this gun and it pains me to do so I must score it with a 6/10
    • Pellet preference: I do find it a little pellet fussy. I've tried Air Arms, RWS Superdomes and a couple of others who's names escape me but it hated them all. Mine performs best with Accupels, Bisley Magnums and H&N Field Target Trophies. Accupels in my opinion are too light for windy days or shooting pigeons so best used for targets. Bisley Magnums are too heavy for decent range but perform very well but that is just my preference. I find that the H&N Field Target Trophies are the best all rounder for this gun 7/10
    • Value for money: What can I say? To be honest, judging from the build quality, accuracy and usability I would say that the Logun Axsor is worth every penny of its RRP and I think it a superb rifle for the money. It retails for between £520 to £550 new but I paid £200 for mine second hand and I feel it would be virtually impossible to find a better rifle for less money.10/10
    • Build quality and design: The bolt action is very smooth and a joy to use. I have tried a BSA R10 and a few AA s410's and they don't feel as refined as the Logun which surprised me . When you draw the bolt back you feel a small resistance when it reaches the end and a little more pressure indexes the magazine. The magazine is very simple in design as is the indexing system which works perfectly. When mine broke I found it very easy to fix as there are only two parts to the system so I think it is very well designed. Changing the magazine is very easy. Holding the gun in my left hand, I pull back the bolt to its maximum travel and with my left thumb I push forward the locating pin which ejects the empty mag into my awaiting right hand . Pop the next mag in and I'm ready to fire again in about 10 seconds. The colour is a little dark for my liking so I am going to sand it down and give it a true oil finish. Got to do this anyway as I have managed to scratch it quite badly by resting it on a post to take out a bunny The stock is well formed and with the thumb up position which I like . But I prefer the attention to detail that Air Arms put into their stocks with the 'fish scale' designs etc. The pressure gauge is positioned under the stock and is easy to read and seems to be quite reliably accurate. 9/10

All in all though I cannot recommend the Logun Axsor enough, really good rifle and I am glad I bought it.

    Overall: 9/10

Good post I have the gemini the 2 shot version in .22 i agree with almost everything you say even down the the anoying bolt that if given the slightest flick upwards draws back making you double load if you dont remember that you alread have one loaded.

it is a weird sound when using a silencer I have an fx2000 and when you fire that all you hear is the hammer and valve inside using the same silencer on the logun you get that fart sound lol.

Pellets again rws superdomes not to keen on but accupells are superb.

All in all its a very good rifle you can tell logun and webley are more or less the same as when i take both guns out of there stocks the transfer port and barrels are the same, just the bolt on the logun looks more like a centrefire rifle than and air rifle both super guns.
Outlaw guns and only the outlaws will have guns.
