General Comments

After putting a lot of time into researching which air rifle I should get as my first, I came to the drawn conclusion of the BSA Supersport - only just winning over the Weihrauch HW99s and Webley Xocet XS (which I plan to buy a bit later when I get more money).

Stripping the box away to get the gun out as fast as possible, I was not disappointed. The Supersport is a good looker; compact, with a nice finish to the beech stock. Taking it out of the box and holding it in my hands, I was surprised at how little the rifle weighed (especially compared to my 1979 BSA Mercury, well past its sell by date).

Taking it out carefully disguised as an "umbrella" wrapped in two bin bags, I found the Supersport to be a truly great performer. With the standard open sights I could consistently hit glass bottles, cans, and anything else we found to shoot at from 50 feet or further.

I don't know much about pellets, but with the BSA Elite .22 that I'm currently using, the rifle is pin point accurate. I did have one strange shot (this only happened once out of about 500 times) where the dispatch of the pellet made a very loud cracking sound; almost like the sound made by real rifle ammunition. I think this was caused by compressed air from the previous shots building up. It's nothing to worry about.

There is one strange thing that I feel I should mention about the stock. After emailing BSA themselves, asking about why the stock had chequering in it, they told me that this was a "new and improved feature" to the Supersport, only just having been added. This new feature gives the rifle a nice look - primarily making it look like a higher end rifle.

So, after reading this review and the many more written about the Supersport .22, I hope you've been persuaded to go out and buy one. This is a truly great rifle, which both performs and looks the part. I recommend this to anyone who's looking to buy a full power air rifle at a good price. You should think of the Supersport as a £250 rifle that only costs £150, if that makes sense, which I hope it does.

BSA can never be compared to the Weihrauch equivalent. They're worlds apart!!! Don't get me wrong they do represent reasonable value for money but if you can afford the Weihrauch it's 10 times the gun!!! When you get a bit more money do try some other guns and you probably won't be so keen on your supersport!

I would disagree about the BSA. I have a Supersport, an HW97K and an Air Arms TX200HC, the BSA is just as well made and was significantly cheaper.

Excellent value for money and much better than my Chinese QB36 in every way.

Love my Supersport too. Brilliant with a gasram - I have a .177 ram in my .22 - seems to make it a bit more potent.

It is definitely a good gun. What you should remember is to click the safety on while cocking the gun. Pressing the trigger when loading will definitely brake the wood stock or bent the barrel.
That is way other gun makers like Weihrauch are far more advanced with a standard automatic safety on. On the other hand they are probably the easiest guns to maintain, modify and repair. I have a couple myself and they have never let me down.

thats interesting to me i would of thought that it would make it less powerful? my thoughts being that the heavier .22 pellet would take more to shift than the llighter .177? am i wrong? and why? would be interested thanks

oh and i had a supersport as my first gun it was and still is a great gun my mate killed a huge rook with it just two days ago im actually quite interested in finding out how old it is if anyone knows how
