I owned an XL but not the tactical. Sold it recently on here and was sad to see it go. Mine was .177 and i could not fault its power/accuracy. Probably the best feedback i can give on the XL is that its very very pointable, light & easy to use. Bad points... the blueing on mine did have some patches of wear and light rust. found that the barrell seal will blow out eventually resulting in a louder/less powerful rifle untill replaced. (got load free from BSA so no trouble)
    Weihrauch - HW95 Vmach / HW98 stock .177 *Nikko Sterling Gold Crown 4-12x42 AO*
Theoben - Sirocco Classic H.E Carbine .177 *Hawke 3-9x40 IR*
Theoben - Sirocco Countryman Carbine .177 80's model

Have found them to be very noisy and quite underpowered, myself, but have only had them in .22.

try and get a UK made one rather than the newer spanish models... if serial number begins with AR its an older but much better uk built rifle..so ive been told at least...Got mine when BSA were building in england & they were selling plenty of the tacical's at that time so they are out there.

I've had one for just over a week now, it is a bit noisy and power is coming in around 10.8 (.177) with JSB's and 9.8 with RWS superdomes. If you go second-hand and don't mind a DIY retune then you might get an increase in power to around 11.5 and the tune does lower the noise considerably - so I'm told, not done mine yet but I will when warranty expires - there's a BSA forum that's full of good info on all of their models. In the field its pretty good, accurate, consistent, easy enough to manoeuvre but this is my first air rifle in 20yrs, had my second quarry from 50mtrs yesterday, elevated shot and fell like a stone, I don't think you can go far wrong for the money tbh, the only down side I can see is the stock - feels a bit cramped when mounting but I am 6ft and like the a 'brick built thing in the garden'. Plus its got BSA stamped on it, reminds of me of my Dads old bikes .
Off to the introductions part now for my second post, wrong way round but its Friday who cares

I am definitely going to get one myself for ratting and give it a good tune...I could do with a small scope to go with it like the Simmons white tail classic 1.5-5x20mm should make a nice ratting combo as I would hate to risk scratching the loverly thubhole stock on my Theoben Evolution
